Lol at those hating on the kid

One of the major complaints I hear from this film a lot that has me dumbfounded are about the kid letting the homeless man in. Okay it was a stupid decision at first and let's be honest here we all made dumb decisions when were kids. But I feel the ppl hating on this kid are overlooking a lot.

First of all the kid was trying to show some compassion to the poor guy and he had no idea the true danger of the purge and neither did his parents. More importantly however the kid's instincts about saving the homeless man were proved right in the film when he turned out not be a threat to the family and even saved their asses against the neighbors. And that is even after they tortured him.

I say that kid was pretty smart on his instincts to save the homeless man. Yes I know the counterpoint will be "But if he didn't let him in none of this would've happened" and that is a fair point to make but still all that matters is the homeless man was not a threat.

The important thing here is: without the hated compassionate kid letting the guy in this would, yes, be quite a different (shorter) movie. The crazies in masks? “We” wouldn’t had gotten this close and personal with their characters if not for the kid... we would simply get a family having a relatively chill night in their seemingly guarded home while the streets are on fire. (Well the crazies could’ve chosen to break into the family’s home just because, though that’d be too convenient/cliche.) Hmm, that maybe would have been worth watching.
