Was "Funny Sonny" from California supposed to be Sonny Barger, the notorious leader of the Hell's Angels?

Just wondering, due to the name and location and all.

Norman "Daryl" Reedus did a good job with the character, but overall, he didn't have enough to do in the script and was wasted.

His character was completely pointless tbh, as was Michael Shannon’s character

I agree. I expected much more from this movie than it ended up delivering.

It’s only been a week and I can hardly remember any of it, just nothing seemed to happen until the last 5 minutes, I think this film has proved that Tom Hardy’s heyday has passed, Austin Butler just posed his way through it with a lifeless character and Jodie Comer’s character wasn’t interesting in the slightest

Outlaw bikers of the '60s is a fascinating topic. They had so much to work with and it was all wasted. The characters were your basic cardboard cutout stereotypes done far worse than any AIP B-grade Biker movie of the late '60s.

Jodie Comer was so plain and drab that I found it laughable that the supposed coolest, most admired biker of them all would fall head-over-heels for her and marry her in five days or weeks or whatever it was.

Pretty sure Michael Shannon was there to add dramatic depth, the story he told was a nice touch.
