Nobody mention the flag, the americans get too defensive....

think most people can agree the cheesy ridiculous flag at the end was over the top. but i've noticed all the americans getting very defensive. surely you as an american can see why it was a stupid scene?

It's an American flag in an American made movie. Complaining about it makes you sound like an idiot. Don't like it? Stop watching American made movies. Problem solved.

reply

It's not that we're proud to be American... we're just proud to not be you.

reply

If none of you had whined about the flag, the vast majority of Americans would not have even remembered it.

As the saying goes, they hate us because they can't be us. Murica!

I love it when people bring up that debt figure, thinking that they know something that no one else knows. Did you know that in proportion to our GDP, our debt is lower than China's and many other countries. You are like a kid that works at McDonalds, saying that a billionaire that owes 100k on his credit card is in "big trouble".

Maybe in 50 to 100 years China can take us, but as of right now...we'd crush them and we all know it.

I stand by my statement. You hate us because you ain't us. Your whining only confirms it.

reply

There are 310 million of us, a good portion of which do not even trust our own government and actually believes our government murdered one of our presidents. Your articulate use of statistics shows you're a relatively smart individual so it's confounding that you'd be stupid enough to believe that all of us are blind, flag waving zealots. Of course you said you "hate" us, so maybe your judgment is clouded by unfounded emotion rather than actual analytics. Perhaps you're a teenager. I used to hate everyone, but that got really old.

Contrary to what you people always assume

That's some top shelf trolling right there. Or he has no sense of irony.

Why would we want to be you? My country has a better education system, better health care system, better welfare system. Overall we have more crime, but we have less murders by a huge margin. We don't have guns everywhere. We don't need our politicians to deny science or compete over who loves Jesus the most to stand a chance of getting elected. We don't have religious loons fighting gay marriage, wasting millions of dollars defying Federal law for no reason. We don't have boards of education indoctrinating students into anti science and religion.

But you have a big army, so there is that.

Nobody gives two Sh!ts about flag. Only a person with high Levels of American Phobia would give a sh!t about the flag. Besides the Flag as made a guest appearance in a Action Movie since Spider-man 3. What flag do you think they should have used. The Flag of United Nations just so all the Europeans can feel all warm and fuzzy in your bed. Believe or not, Not all Americans go into the middle of street shouting how great America is. A lot of them Know America isn't f###ing great. Really is the only channel you get from America is Fox News. Also Its not like there are other disaster movies from other country that has a great deal flag waving *cough* Sinking of Japan *cough*. Just wait until China is making all your Blockbuster films. Then you'll be seeing their flag a lot more often.

reply

Yea, too much flag waiving ruins many movies.

reply

For every flag waving patriotic American movie. There probably just as many American movies that are highly critical of American History past and present. Frankly the way I see it. If Europeans are so offended by the American Flag. Than maybe they should make there own big blockbusters were they can rub there flag in others faces. In fact im really offended when I see the Union Jack in a James Bond movie. Maybe I should boycott.

reply

The symbolism was a bit ham-fisted but it wasn't that terrible. After all, that's exactly what would happen in real life: if there's a major disaster in the US, someone's going to be pitching a flag somewhere once the worst is over.

reply

The flag at the end was really over the top and bizarre. It was embarrassing, actually. Not sure why it needed to be included unless it was intended as a laugh.
