"Harry Potter" meets "Beauty and the Beast" meets "Beetlejuice" with a little bit of "Hugo" around it.
And directed by the "torture porn horror Mr Popular" of "Hostel" and later the likes of "Knock Knock", "Death Wish" remake etc ilk - Eli Roth. Agree? That this is basically what "The House with a Clock in Its Walls" is.
"Harry Potter" (2001) meets "Beauty and the Beast" (1991 Disney version, but could be other like the classic French "La Belle et la Bête" (1946) by Jean Cocteau or the Russian/Soviet 40 or so minute animation "The Scarlet Flower" ("Alenkiy Tsvetochek") (1956) meets Tim Burton's "Beetlejuice" (1988) with a little bit of Martin Scorsese's "Hugo" (2011) around it.
And in my opinion is worth a look but mostly a middle of the road 5/10 achievement, neither Eli Roth's worst NOR best, but his most surprising, who would have thought for one after a succession of gory torture horrors and over the top violent thrillers with one pseudo feminist gender bending black comedy erotic horror thriller that he would decide to essentially make a children's fairy-tale type of flick?
