Overdone with the scar and humiliation thing

I don't buy for a second that kids would publicly humiliate a person just because half her face is filled with scars. She doesn't even have any deformation. That was really unrealistic and overly fake-shocking moment. Not mentioning the stupid part where "Monster" was scarred next to her door. When i was in middle school kids laughed when someone wore glasses, when someone wore funny clothes (for their age, that is), but never when something serious was troubling someone.

I've never experienced nor heard of any situation like this before in real life. At least here in first world part kids tend to have some discretion. My brother's 12-year-old friend has only one hand, and all his classmates are friends with him. No one humiliating nor making fun of him. Though i could imagine being one-handed could bring more humiliation. But yeah, that's Finland for you.

So overdone by the director...

Kids are mean and do make fun of people like that, however her scars weren't nearly bad enough for it to be believable in her situation. She wasn't deformed, and was still a better than average looking person.

They tried to have it both ways, have someone that was gross looking, and one that would be the romantic interest of the "hunky leading man." You can really only have one. He wasn't going to end up with a 300 pound woman, so they did what they did.

Your views are to ideal OP, or maybe it's just the region/area you live in. I assume your from Finland. I'm in the US and kids can be cruel. I have seen the stuff kids could do growing up. My kid and I are also I'm also involved with a youth organization, some of the kids are/have bullied and the stories I have heard. It's just sad...

Also sometimes kids can be sheep just to fit in with the "cool" kid (s)and do things like attack the "monster". Again sad.
