Just Watched, BAD MOVIE

Horrible, very horrible

reply

Not horrible, but not good. They incorporated most of the AC elements, but they went a bit overboard with the oversized Animus and the regression sequences. The thing that annoyed me the most was that they reffered to the Assassins as the Creed, not Order. Seemed illiterate, apart from not being in the spirit of the game. Had they said once or twice, it would have been OK, but they kept repeating it over and over.

This movie is wrong from the get go. Why cast real actor like Fassbender for videogame movies. Movies like these need different kind of actors/actresses. They need the "face" of the franchise. Someone that quite has a name but not too recognized and won't have lots of other movies after, like Mila Jovovich or Kate Beckinsale for Resident Evil and Underworld. Then you use them again and again for the sequels so the actor and the franchise become synonymous.

Fassbender is already Magneto and a bunch of other characters already. The same happened with Jake Gyllenhaal for the Prince of Persia. Too famous for it's own good.

My pick for Assassin's Creed would be maybe Oscar Isaac or Bradley Cooper.

It won't save the movie though. The script is too bad it's beyond salvage.

Dude, you are so wrong. If your theory is correct, then Hitman should be a Mega Hit, Silent Hill should be a sleeper hit.

reply

I said it wont save the movie though, the script is too bad. Movies at very least has to have a decent script.

My argument was that movies like these (videogame movies or videogamey movies), need a "face" to represent itself as the movie counterpart of the game franchise.

Assassin's Creed the game actually has one of the most original ideas in years. Amazing how they managed to butcher it for the movie.

Both Hitman(s) and Silent Hill are arguably better than this movie.

The problem of this movie, as well as many others based on video games and cartoons, is that the makers focus too much on the visual. They crammed the wagon chases, parcours, Leap of faith, fight scenes, viewpoint scenes and all that and forgot that the AC series is about more than that and that it has an excellent and original story. It looks like the film was made by the non-gamers the way they thought the gamers would like.

reply

I don't agree. I think the film was made by Videogamers / studio head. They made a perfect plot device to "NOT TO INTERFERE WITH ORIGINAL VIDEO GAME CANNON". They put that into current timeline with Memory projection. It's a good interesting idea. I think the movie failed because of AN ABSENCE OF A GOOD VILLIAN. (Pls lead actor sucks, he should not have done double role. Instead he should have, only played the original Creed himeslf)

reply

Maybe, if they are trying to make a similar story, but not the same, I could understand and accept it. Having played all the games up to Black flag, I know the story behind the Assassins, Templars, the Apple and, to me, the story in the movie seemed over-simplified for the sake of the visual aspect.

reply

I also didn't think the movie was that good.

reply

My wife is making me watch this. I'm on my phone instead. The movie is just bad.

reply

I agree. Love the games, the movie sucked.

Signed, million man.
