I just watched it mainly because of the 6.5 score. Well, I must say I am quite disappointed. There was nothing original about this movie. Nothing interesting about the story, characters etc. A couple of black comedy lines and moments here and there and that is about it.
I do believe that people have a strong positive bias towards non-hollywood movies.
I don't understand what you mean when you say its unoriginal. Because to me it certainly seems a lot more original than most other films out at the moment; its not a typical rom-com made in hollywood, the premise is pretty unique, I've never watched a film about two people on holiday deciding to murder people. Your comment makes it sound like there are a million other similar films out there which doesn't seem the case to me. Please feel free to prove me wrong and give me a long list of other films that are really similar to this one, but I just don't agree with that comment.
shareI thought it was decent. I saw one reviewer rate it as a gory thriller. I think it's quite obvious that the intention was humor. A dark comedy, but a comedy none the less.
shareIt is sheer genius and without doubt worthy of an 8.5. BW is one of this countries leading lights of the future and all of his films are challenging and cross the genre's. Script (and adlib) is top quality, more laughs than in most main stream comedies, darker and more disturbing than most mainstream horrors and without doubt the best film on caravanning I have ever seen.
You are all entitled to your opinions but unless you think this is great then you are invariable wrong.
I first went to see this in a cinema in Basel taking a group of multi nationals with me, just to see if the humour transferred and it did, I since bought the DVD and watched it 4 or 5 times and it never fails to impress with how it can be, funny, deep, emotional, flippant and quite accurate on the psychological state of the main characters and how those traits were developed over their lives. Even the Mother's character is genius, she gives half a dozen laughs herself and she is only in it for 10 mins !!
Dude, this is seriously one of the funniest off beat comedies of all time. Highly underrated.
