The worst part about this movie was Fannings character.

I have not seen enough of her movies if any but wasn't impressed with her acting. Mediocre at best so why is everyone amazed by her in this movie? they kept making remarks about how special she was but apparently Fanning could not sell her character at all because i was left wondering what exactly was so amazing about her. Yeah she is pretty but just having a pretty face does not make a girl special and "like the sun" or whatever crap the other model said. Personally I like all the other characters so much better than her and they were so much more believable.

Her character was supposed to go from an unformed, but three-dimensional human being to a hollowed-out, two-dimensional idol. Or actually really she becomes a PRODUCT that winds up being "consumed". It's not the kind of role that is going to make for a tour-de-force Oscar performance, but she fulfills her FUNCTION in THIS movie brilliantly.

She actually is very pretty, but what she has over, say, Abby Lee is not that she is necessarily more beautiful, but that she is more YOUTHFUL and INNOCENT. When she loses that is when she gets "consumed" metaphorically and then literally.

yeah,
her acting was basic and despondent.

She was really bland in the film. But she was playing a young teenager that was very unsure of herself in a world she was very unfamiliar with. It makes sense for her personality to be kind of suppressed.

About her look, she wasn't ''that'' beautiful but I have seen successful models look JUST like her. Gemma Ward and Jessica Stam come to mind. It is perfectly possible for her to be a model.
