Boudu Saved from Drowning (1932).

There's also a back-county US indie film I want to list, both really good and not well-known, but I can't think just now of it's title or director: American "salaryman" in a small rural town captures and imprisons a female wild child who proceeds to play out a role similar to Boudu or Borgman.

No! I found it: The Woman directed by Lucky McKee.

It instantly reminded me of 'Kill List' and 'Hidden' when i first saw it; both of which are great movies.

There are plenty of haunting artsy movies out there, and there are plenty of movies that keep you reaching for connections for days, but it's hard to find movies with both. Borgman is a rarity. Under The Skin has a lot to think about, but I didn't find it very enlightening in the long run. Hesher is the closest relative to Borgman, in my opinion.

Harlequin (1980) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080842/ is probably what you are looking for. It's older but has the same atmosphere and intrigue around a character.

Even though not exactly the same, I felt like it has a similar mood to "Timecrimes". Maybe also "The Door" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1223934/?ref_=fn_al_tt_2 or "The bothersome man" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0808185/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

Fallen (1998) starring Denzel
