For me this scene was especially powerful as an indicator (for those who wonder 'what is wrong with sex addiction'?) just how unmanageable life is getting when acting out ... I could think of several scenarios in that moment : 1) she runs out yelling rape and of course every jury will find Adam guilty and she gets money (he seemed wealthy) 2) she runs out, trips, gets killed, Adam is being blamed 3) she dies in the bathroom (somehow I envisioned razor blades, but I remember now reading that females prefer 'poison' over violent methods).. which actually makes me wonder what kind of pills Adam had .. as an addict (even if it is process, not substance, he should not have benzos at home, but well, he also had red wine)

I had to back that one up. It looks to me like Ruffalo got surprised by the actress playing Becky. Maybe with the director's knowledge? check the scene again and watch when she gets up and goes next to the window to cry. He gives a milisecond glance to the camera, and when he gets up to go comfort her, he looks over to his right for a second. Did those 2 conspire to get a reaction of real bewilderment and concern from Ruffalo?

Ha, it escalated so quickly as to almost be seen as comedy.

One minute they're engaging in light date banter, 3 minutes later, she's locked herself in his bathroom and is sobbing uncontrollably as she rummages for pills to O.D. on.
