High school is a very scary place. I graduated last year, and in those four years, I have met a lot of judgemental and ignorant people. People who laugh and make fun of people for something. This kind of stuff can be anywhere, no place is really not like that, its more the people.

Grade school I got my @$$ kicked all the time until I got fed up and beat the snot out of my bully.. Grade 7 I was pushed around until I told my bully I had a crush on them. I skipped grade 8 and went into high school. Nothing happened there at all. I would LOVE it if students these days would learn that what happens in school doesn't matter when you leave.

Maybe for some people it's as easy as graduating and moving on, but for some people high school never ends...

I was bullied all through school because I was extremely shy, my teacher's liked me for being a good student (aka teacher's pet!) and I wasn't exactly thin... I finally dropped out partway through my freshman year of HS. After I left rumors started about why I left, all my "friends" started treating me like sh*t, and one of those "friends" wrote some really rude stuff about me on her blog.

I graduated through a special program about 5 1/2 years ago and the people who treated me like sh*t in school are still at it. (I live in a small town where everyone knows everyone and you can't escape your bullies.) I'm now being treated like sh*t by people I've met after I graduated because, as I said, for some people high school really never ends.

This movie was incredibly realistic- maybe even understated- about how big of an issue bullying really is. The only thing I found really unrealistic about it was at the end when Taylor stands up to the mean girls. In real life that would only make them attack you more. Also, I don't know anyone who would ever even talk to someone like Samantha again after what she did. Same goes for Cheyenne.

Anyway, back to the point, yes high school really is like this for a lot of people.

Hannah Beth, my heart broke reading your post. I am so sorry that humans can be so cruel. I hope you are doing better.

For me, it was almost exactly like this except I never got around to killing myself because I never lost sight of my worth.

'Cyber bullies'. LMAO.

Kids today are nothing but little sissies. Here's a thought: beat the living $hit out of your bully.
STAND UP for yourselves and youll find most bullies are sissies themselves.

When confronted, go ape$hit on the bully, try to break things on their body AND EVEN IF YOU LOSE, that bully will have to think twice about messing with you the next time. Most sissies..er bullies will just move on to the next kid that will whimper off and cry on the internet about it.

I was bullied back in the 80's. My uncle told me what I told you.
When confronted I tried my best to beat him to death. I lost, but two things changed after that.

1. I would never back down again.
2. The bully had a instant type of respect for me in that I at least fought back.

Dont be a sissy. Stand your ground now or go to bed every-night KNOWING in your heart that youre a $ussy.
Its hard to live with yourself like that.

I think there is a difference between 'bullying' and your typical teenage name-calling BS. I was an accomplished ballet dancer, and my parents had this misguided idea to move to a very conservative state when I was thirteen. I still took ballet, and wore cowboy boots at school, but it didn't fool anyone. I was called fag, etc but I didn't care. I guess you could say I was bullied, but it just went with the territory. So with this movie, and Taylor freaking out because they are calling her a slut and whore, it made no sense. Taylor wasn't being bullied for who she was/is. It would have had as much impact if I was 'bullied' if my classmates called me half-black and *beep* (I'm not). It wouldn't have registered. That's why I really don't like this flick, WHO CARES if the residential classroom bitch is calling Taylor a slut or whore? She's not, she's a virgin. So why did Taylor get her panties in a knot?

The best part about being picked on in HS was that I became friends with the outliers of the school. I was best friends with the heaviest girl in school, the tallest girl in school, the nerdiest people in school, basically everyone that got picked on. It seemed strange when people saw the good looking, smart, (*WINNER*) hanging out with these people, but I enjoyed getting to know these people, because I was ALSO one of them. We all developed a wicked sense of humor. Jocks are generally speaking dumb bullies, after HS they only have the police dept to aspire to. Or city sanitation.

Taylor needed to get a grip. I had no sympathy for her. She totally disregarded the gay guy who sat in front of her and tried to reach out to her. It's just too bad that Tylenol was too hard for a HS to open up. She was going to get eaten alive in college if HS lies/BS throws her into a suicidal frenzy.

I can recall one case of cyberbullying where a jealous guy created a fake email account in my GF's name to spread nonsense about me.

Other than that, school life was pretty uneventful for me. Infact I couldn't wait for it to be over. College life was a lot better with more mature friends and a little less of backstabbing haha.

I have to agree, I could definitely see this movie being played out in middle school, but not high school. The bullying in this movie was very immature, petty, and baseless. Random accusations of being a slut, having an STD, or whatever happened in middle school all the time, and having people ditch their supposed friends over it was also common. Not to mention, the protagonist of the movie's reaction to the accusation were more reminiscent of a 13 year old who's still trying to figure out how to fit in and respond to such things than a 17 year old who would have some grasp on what to do.

I graduated high school in 2006 and for the most part, the drama, while petty, wasn't as petty as in this movie and wasn't nearly as baseless. By high school most people wouldn't care about the intimate details of others' lives, and those who would harp on about it were usually accused of being obsessive and petty. Not to mention, people who talked behind others' backs mostly kept it behind their backs, they generally didn't say it to their face because they're cowards, even online and this was when everyone had a Myspace profile.
