Movies would have you think that all high schools are breading grounds for anarchy, with unresponsive teachers, excessive bullying, backstabbing, etc. My own high school experience couldn't have been further from that. Sure, there were jerks, but rarely do I see high schools portrayed in films that way I've always known them. Frankly, my high school experience was more akin to SAVED BY THE BELL than any teen high school drama crap.

Mine was actually extremely like this. Ever hear of Formspring? People talked mad sh*t on that to me and to loads of other people.

Yeah, I totally saw this happening in middle school. High school, less so (but I suppose it is theoretically possible). I thought it was explicitly said that they were 9th graders at one point ('big fish, small pond', etc), but I could have just misheard :scratches head:

The starting of my high school year was like this. I was dumped by my best friends; they put 'secret admirer' letters in my locker. Made my self esteem real low and it was hard to trust anyone for a long time. Didn't know if they were being serious or were making fun of me.

Middle school was like this. Highschool it was more isolated to a few delinquints that were jerks who'd pick on people. It wasn't like the jerks were super popular and what they said went and every followed them or anything, like seems to happen in the movies. It wasn't fun in the least bit and was FAR FAR FAR from anything on Saved By The Bell but an entire school didn't gang up on anyone. All that being said, this was '95-99, so myspace and facebook were not out there yet. The internet was just starting to really pop at that point.

Not at all.

This message that they tried to convey through this movie was commendable, but the movie itself was really unrealistic.

I agree, it wasn't like this for high school for me; I did have problems in elementary school. No one helped me, so I started cutting class in protest. That is, until I got sick and tired one day and lashed out at a student after giving him multiple warnings to leave me alone.

The activities of the students in this movie were very immature, more like grade or middle school nonsense. My own children didn't have such issues, but I would have raised he!! if they'd been tormented like this & taken them out of the school if necessary.

All I could think about during this movie was how if there was a girl like the villan Lindsay everyone back when I went to highschool would probably just hate her more for being such a massive b1tch.
