So boring and uninvolving. What a disappointment so far.

I'm a little over halfway through this. I keep pausing it to go make a snack or play with the cats. That's a really bad sign when you are watching a suspense film.

I had heard this was one of the scariest of all modern horror films, but it's so damn dull. 90% of what I have watched is just Ethan Hawke watching goofy-looking mass murders on his projector.

Hawke's character is bland and his family is annoying. The "Mr. Boogie" character on the murder films looks like a reject Orc makeup job from Lord of the Rings. The murders are silly looking and implausible.

This is obviously heavily inspired by "The Shining" but that one grabs you right from the start and never lets go.

Sinister, by contrast, is just so lame.
