The first one was more realistic than most comic book movies, but I think bringing in Robin would not be a good idea. If you give Batman a sidekick why not the Cassandra Cain Batgirl? She was
trained as an assassin and is mute.

shareBecause Robin is the OG sidekick, and the most popular one. The Arkham games and even the terrible Titans series showed that Robin can work in a gritty setting.
shareI think it can be done. But skip the costume. We don't need more costumed vigillantes. One (Batman) is enough. Even Catwoman is not costumed in this movie. Riddler's costume is also has nothing to do with his original design.
Robin could be simply a young guy who works with Batman. And then Joker captures him, tortures and kills him. But turned out he's not dead and becomes Red Hood. I think it could work for this "realistic but bombastic style" of this movie's version of Batman.

The issue is that comic-book Robin is too cartoonish and colorful. His domino-mask "disguise" is no disguise at all, and I'm not sure Pattinson's Batman is the type to have such a close friend. To the extent that they bring in Robin, he would probably be what Gordon was in this movie. So maybe they'd have to kill off Gordon to bring in Robin
Also Catwoman served as a sort of Robin substitute as well as providing a love interest. Night wing is not bad but Robin is a little too silly for this version of Batman. James Gunn plans to introduce the Damian Wayne Robin anyway so we will see how that works.
