Incoming "it's good because it is DARK and GROUNDED" edgelords.
Yawn.
sharey'know, i'm up for a dark & grounded batman.
i like the mcu films, but they're obviously made for all ages, quadrant pleasers, and i'd love to see a batman aimed at adults, with real darkness & violence.
but...
it's 35 minutes longer than 2001. as mark kermode likes to say, if kubrick can take us from the dawn of man to the creation of a new species in 140 minutes, they don't need 35 more minutes to tell us a batman story surely.
it's 14 minutes longer than scenes from a marriage!
there's no need for it to be so long!
but i'll probably still go see it this week. maybe.
"y'know, i'm up for a dark & grounded batman."
"i'd love to see a batman aimed at adults, with real darkness & violence."
You think this is new?
no, i know the nolan films had elements like that. even the burton films had some of that, though i found them too cartoony ultimately.
i don't think the snyder films were adult - i think he kinda takes adult to be 'glowering and dark and fighting in the rain' and so on.
so i'll amend that and say 'more dark and grounded' and more adult.
Every Batman series starting with the 1980s films has claimed it was darker, grittier and aimed at adults.
shareYou sure know what you're talking about...
shareWhat was your point with that?
shareTo make fun of your statement. Every Batman series starting from the 1980s has NOT claimed to be darker grittier and aimed at adults.
Over exaggerating to prove a point is so counter productive and stupid.
I think you are mistaken. Darker, grittier, edgier has always been a major selling point of the modern-era Batman franchise.
shareHmm so crazy.

It appears as though every Batman since the 80's hasn't claimed to be "darker, grittier, edgier."
Dude you're a fool. Just admit you over exaggerated something.
What are you talking about? Batman is without a doubt one of the more "realistic" comics and has been that way since the 80s. He's almost always shown dealing with street-level villains and almost always been one of the more "mature" titles.
shareThere's a great watchmen/Dr. Manhattan meme floating around now that is poking fun at this :D
shareI would like to see that if you have a link!
shareHere, I found the post again!

HA! That's awesome! Exactly the point I was making. Thanks!
shareAgree it tried way too hard to be edgy.
shareand meta of course, it was trying to be like Joker.
shareThe final setpiece was straight out of the TAS cartoon.
shareWhy not rated R so we can see Cat woman naked?
