Burning 'Mein Kampf' in front of the enemy = Ridiculous

I am really tired of this anti-Nazi crap in every WW2 movie, be it Hollywood one or European one. No German soldier would have humiliated his leader in front of enemy soldiers. German officers may not like Hitler ( But you should know that popularity of Hitler among the soldiers were very high early in the war ), but burning his book unnecessarily is just *beep* And think like that Josepf liked leader of his country and admired him. You are his friend and you burn his book for no reason. This doesn't make any sense.

That movie is a way overrated and doesn't deserve anything better than 4. Other crap :

+ British soldier asks German officer that why Hitler conquered most of Europe ? This is wrong, at that point, only Poland and Denmark were invaded. Norway was currently being invaded. France and Benelux countries were all around and alive. So, his question is pointless.

+ No prisoner of war could have been as daring as British POWs in the beginning. If you are taken prisoner and act like them in such a situation, you would be shot immediately. There would have been very nervous environment and POWs would probably have been tied.

I don't think they saw them as enemy soldiers at that point. Bye then they had become friends.

I totally agree, that was clearly the weakest moment of the film.

Wow are you serious?

Tired of "anti-nazi crap", what do you want, pro nazi movies? Hell even just a neutral nazi movie would piss me off. There is nothing other then anti worth saying about nazism.

I'm not saying that means every German in a world war 2 movie should be evil or even bad, but the philosophy itself is evil and repugnant, and should always be portrayed as such.

So if what you really meant was that you have a problem with how German soldiers and people are protrayed that's one thing. But if you meant what you actually wrote, then you are either an idiot, have an extremely twisted and inaccurate view of what fascism is, or you actually support fascism and are an evil little worm.

I am about the most tolerant person of differing philosophical and political viewpoints you will ever find. I don't indulge in attacks on either political figures or regular people I disagree with in normal political discourse.

The exception I make is for any political philosophy that ends up requiring mass killings combined with threats and intimidation to put into actual practice (basicly any form of totalitarianism).

So you want PRO-Nazi then? Ok.

Sorry but the only pro Nazi film I'm interested in is Shindler. He's a cool cat! Also any one who was like him. (There were other good Nazis like him believe it or not.)

Actually a lot of German soldiers did not like Hitler...including several Nazis (Shindler just seems to be the most popular one but several other of the Nazis also helped Jews whenever they could). Not all German soldiers are Nazis either for your information. Nazis was a special division.

Furthermore, you DO know this is based on real life events, on Captain Horst whateveritsspelled actual book of memoirs, ... right?

I can find nothing about those particular soldiers being Nazis as well. They would talk highly of the Third Reich since that's how they were trained but none of them seem to have worn the Swatstika. (Look at real life pics of the precious few there are out there....try to find one with any of them being an actual Nazi) They were just common German soldiers.

Not all us Germans are bad. Not all of us bowed down to Hitler & not all of us hate Jews. In fact there are a lot of German-descendant Jews.

But what do I know? I'm just a half German half Canadian ...

I don't know why anyone is bothering to seriously debate someone who is clearly a Nazi.

Not much was discussed about the OP's third point. How do they force a realism into that environment? My initial thinking agrees the Brits better acquiesce. But other points have been made, their lives were in peril either the turn of events (using up the last beam for firewood signified no safety concern). By strategizing that way it made them look bigger, in spite of 2 vs. 3. Wearing a moral outrage on their sleeves, couldn't be tied.
