How good was Helen Hunt?????

On a scale from 1-10????

Just curious.

Thanks.

8.

I'm not her biggest fan but I think she did a great job; she was subtle AND kept it very real.

In the final scene; it gives me the chills everytime i watch it, when she's holding her tears during the poem reading.

reply

Yes...agree. The role could only be played by a thinking woman's actress because it was very risk-taking role which required a lot of depth, etc. It's definately not a Sophia Vegara type role. I was actually thinking William H Macy's wife, Felicity Huffman, probably also woud have done a good job.

I thought she was very good, albeit the Boston accent kind of annoyed me.

A 10, she deserves the oscar win!

You may be a clown in the burying ground or just another pretty face

Let's double that! 20! She was better than any existing point system. Totally real! I do think that John Hawkes should have gotten a nomination also! I would have picked him and for instance left out Cooper, Phoenix or Jackman for their less deserving IMO nominations.

reply

Great Performance! Courageous Performance! I won`t do the double deal, so a 10! as is her body considering she was almost 50... Loved this movie, only saw it because I came across it on HBO, so happy I did... Especially knowing "after research" the actual story, superbly done. Every character was portrayed with precision, small roles were powerfully done as well...

She can count the win she didn't deserve as a win for this movie.

I am a four eyed evil genius.

reply

Brave, nuanced, complex. Terrific.

7.6

Good, but not Oscar worthy.

To the OP:

I don't know, you'd have to ask her "client".

Oh, you mean her acting performance..

reply

She was everything I could have asked for. And a 10++, for my favorite scene - in the car at their last encounter. When she left without the money. That look on her face! She knew they would never meet again, and it would be her loss. She looked so confused and helpless. Plus, the visible shame of having broken the cardinal rule of not falling for the client. It happens.

reply

I dunno 7 or 8 which is REAL good. She certainly looked aged. I really liked the movie thought it was one of the better movies for 2012. I think I enjoyed it more than Argo or Skyfall - probably about the same as Sliver Linings

reply

10+. She was wonderful. Just as she is in everything.
