The trailer looks awful

... particularly the voice-over and the expressionless Gosling.

Unpopular opinion, but Denis Villeneuve is wildly overrated. I'm not sure why people are fawning over his films. Incedies was ok, Prisoners was unremarkable, Enemy dull and I fell asleep during Sicario.

Due to the lack of moderators, trolls can ruin the IMDB message boards. Don't feed them.

I liked the teaser. But I am usually a big fan of some of Villeneuve's films and I like post apocaliptic \ science fiction movies... I don't think he is overrated, but Sicario was weak, at least weaker than what I was expecting.

reply

"expressionless Gosling"

Obviously you haven't watched the original in quite some time. Harrison is just as"expressionless". What a stupid thing to rant about.

The trailer looked great.

Triggered HAHAHA

~ I'm a 21st century man and I don't wanna be here.

Gosling isn't going to marry you, bro

reply

Yeah, it's a bad teaser. Harrison Ford once again waves his hand to say "I'm back...". Gosling looks lost and such...

The only one thing that can possibly bring audiences in to see this is a lot of replicant-action. So expect that in the next trailers. And I'm one of those who'll see this on a later date, probably on VOD.

reply

Will you all stop refering to "Androids"..

Its about Replicants, which is not quite the same

reply

Very well. I'm sorry for that mistake. I also like to be precise.

The voice-over is a dialog line taken from the original movie. Can't see what's wrong with it.

reply

I agree. Fake digital fog, Deckard is wearing a grey T shirt? Other than the last couple seconds the set design kinda sucks. I do think the voiceover is actually Harrison Ford though.

Your from a tasteless, hippster, punkasss and self important generation of whistle blowing internet bad ass who probably think their opinion matters because you typed on your computer and got a response, which never happened in real world.

Exactly! But it's not an unpopular opinion. Many people thinks this way, including me. And even more will realise this when BR2049 will be released.

Nolan, I love you forever!

reply

From what I can see some of the former "Nolanfans" are leaving the ship and jump over to Villeneuve's camp of admiration.
I understand you remain faithful. Loyalty is priceless.

Nolan is the One and Only God of Cinema.

Nolan, I love you forever!

It's always good to have a god.

He's great at adding comedy into his films.

He's great at ideas and writing screenplays, possibly one of the greatest of this generation however what he gets praised for is his ability to direct. Now, I'd go as far to say that his directing is bland, repetitive and unoriginal, which if he was the opposite of all these things, I would still not consider him a fantastic director. Also, I believe he has made some of the best original films of the past decade, (I.e Memento, The Prestige), although what made these films great was the writing. His ability to write a movie on any scale is impeccable and I would love to see a Blade Runner screenplay by him. However, him being a choice to direct a Blade Runner sequel I just cannot see. One of the things that made the original great and helps it stand the test of time is Scott's original direction of the film. His aesthetic that he set up was unlike anything the world has ever seen before and is immediately iconic. I firmly believe that Villeneuve is the perfect choice to DIRECT this film. His films have an original aesthetic to them, with the help of Roger Deakins and from what I've seen, the cinematography is unlike anything I've seen from Cinema in a while. Villeneuve is similar to the early works of Scott also in that he uses subtlety which is sorely lacking from films now which this film has the potential to bring to the forefront again. That way we can see more interesting Science Fiction movies which is what Blade Runner, over a long period of time, managed to achieve. Villeneuve already showed this direction in Arrival most notably, but what he will do in Blade Runner 2049 has the potential to be a milestone in the future of cinema, which I'm afraid Nolan would not achieve to the extent as Villeneuve as the director.
