Looks as boring as the first

Scott has made great movies and two of my favorites but the first failed for a reason. It was excruciatingly boring. The visuals were admittingly jaw dropping when I saw it at the theatre back in 82 but the performances were stilted and the movie lacked energy. After seeing Villanueve's latest tedious borefest Arrival I fear that the only ones that will like this movie are art house lovers or the ones that think they know something we don't; which of course is not true. Intelligent sci fi movies don't have to be a slog to sit through.

Have you watched the Final Cut version of Blade Runner?

Far superior to the theatrical cut, which admittedly, is hard to watch.

This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Didn't know you were so old larosat.

In what alternate universe did the first one "fail?" I might agree if Scott hadn't set out to make a futuristic Dashiell Hammett story, but it's regarded as one of the greatest sci-fi films ever made (next to 2001) by both fans, and critics. What you see as a failing is precisely what so many love about it.

reply

Meant at the box office. Well aware that it's hailed as one of the best sci-fi movies ever made. Not by me of course.

You're nothing so it doesn't matter.

Then get the hell off the board and let people enjoy the film without you complaining about it. I happen to enjoy 'Blade Runner' quite a lot, I don't view it as a masterpiece but I'll happily watch it.
Besides, if you want to complain about the first 'Blade Runner' movie, go and say that on the 'Blade Runner' message board, not on the board for it's sequel. This is completely irrelevant to the second movie.

Will be hard to be as boring as the first one.

What are those "great" movies by Ridley Scott ? Everybody always names the 2 same ones, and they are from 35 years ago. He's supposed to be great because of two movies made in the 80's but since then none of his films have been great in any way. Great director ? Seriously !
