Looks worse than the original

Sir Ridley Scott is just better than Denis Villeneuve.

The only one in the highest level of Sir Ridley Scott is David Fincher.

SIR RIDLEY SCOTT, THE CARTEL, WRAITHS OF THE BROKEN LAND, JOSE MOURINHO, CRISTIANO RONALDO, etc....

David Fincher always works with the son of the DP of BLADE RUNNER(Sir Ridley Scott).

David Fincher has directed ten films. Jeff Cronenweth has shot four of them.

it is worse than the original....decent movie but far from the original

Evidently lots of people agree with the OP.

No, it wasn’t worse to me. Better? I wouldn’t hesitate to say 2049’s narrative gives the original a run for its money. And in terms of production values and visual effects, like the original this is one of the most stunning films I’ve ever seen. So better overall? I wouldn’t necessarily say so. All I can say is, Blade Runner 2049 is a GREAT film that brilliantly expands on the ideas of the original. It’s a supremely worthy follow up to the ‘82 masterpiece.

As for the whole master director angle, the only thing I have to say about that is Villeneuve has more than proven to be a visionary director in his own league. Fincher? He’s terrific but Villeneuve executed this film as good (perfect I dare say) as anyone could have in my book

Only time will tell. The original was not well received initially, but became a cult favorite, no? Time and repeated viewings will tell if this holds up.

In my case, while I wanted more of the same types of neo-noir visuals and music, I can't deny that the new style of the film has gotten stuck in my head and I want to see it again right now, which rarely happens with new films. As a certain character in the movie says, sometimes it isn't so much about the little details as it is about the overall emotion the images evoke.

It's not. I don't know yet if it's better, as I'll have to see it three or more times to get everything out of it. Same as the original. Takes a deep look and repeat viewings. But it's a very good film. Finely crafted. A visual and auditory masterpiece. Every frame is as a work of art. Just beautiful. If you liked Blade Runner (and I did), go check it out.
