The really couldn't come up with anything more original?
This just looks like a lame retread of the first, but with a younger cast.

shareAgree, The trailer suggests the plot is the usual, "We're in outer space, and this alien creature is hunting us!" ... we've seen that before
shareWell WTF do you want from this franchise. It's based on Aliens who hunt and infiltrate the body .. 😂
shareI would prefer something we haven’t seen before
If your argument is that the franchise can do nothing but retread old ground because “it’s based on Aliens who hunt and infiltrate the body” — then the franchise should not go forward anymore
Well there is that. Not continue. But I guess Star Trek, Star Wars, etc should not continue anymore either. It is what it is. I can guarantee you the next step will be a television show. When a franchise is played out they normally make a TV show. You just watch. The good thing is a TV show can explore more details of the characters. you just wait .. 😂
shareSet it in a bakery during early morning hours, when the bread is still being kneaded. Perhaps have a plot where the facehugger needs a job, and the owner of the shop decides to take a chance, because she is a firm believer in DEI. Little by little, the alien learns about self-worth, whilst the other employees learn that working with violent minorities isn’t so bad after all.
shareA lot of fans complained about the direction the Ridley Scott prequels (Prometheus and Alien: Covenant) took. They said they couldn't measure up to the greatness of the first two movies, which are both very minimalist. The first is a quite simple horror movie in a contained space whilst the second is an action packed marines vs xenomorphs.
The fans are about to get what they wanted. A minimalist movie that tries to combine elements of Alien and Aliens. A lot of xenomorph action.
I definitely understand where people are coming from with their criticisms. This looks like a lean, mean sci-fi horror with nothing much more to it but that seems to be what some people want so lets see how it does.
People will STILL BITCH AND MOAN. Same thing happened to the Pirates of the Caribbean films. The first film was smaller the second/third film while good was a much bigger spectacle. Fans complained about that so the producers went back to a smaller, self contained story for the 4th movie....and you guessed it. Fans complained the story was too small and self contained... 😂...
The fifth movie brought back some ties to the first 3 and was a little larger in scope but not as in your face as 2/3. Fans still complained of course. I liked all of them. I also like Prometheus and Alien Covenant.
"I also like ... Alien Covenant."
Congrats on erasing everything you typed before that from my mind.
I admit Prometheus was a bit better. But I don't see why Covenant is hated so much.
shareCovenant was average at best. It was OK as an Alien movie, but it failed to really add anything to the franchise or build on what was established in Prometheus
shareFor me the big problem with Covenant was it seemed like it really wanted to be a movie about a questionably functioning android dealing with a God/creation complex but due to the reaction to Prometheus, also had to include a bunch of traditional Alien elements and really failed to marry them both into a solid story. The fact that it heavily deviates from where (it appeared) Prometheus was leading and doubling down on things happening due to extreme character stupidity didn't help either.
