I've fallen away from superhero movies for the most part. For a while I was into the MCU, and it never really got bad for me, but I just felt a serious oversaturation of the characters. The DC movies, beginning with The Man of Steel, have universally been garbage. I haven't enjoyed a single moment of them and I stopped trying. My favorite superhero movies include Batman Returns, Raimi's Spidey, TDK, and Unbreakable. Black Panther is getting a lot of hype, and it looks good, but I guess I'm looking for someone to sell me on it, withholding all spoilers, and as much fanboyism as you can manage. Why should someone who enjoys action and adventure films go see Black Panther?

I'm not afan of comicbook movies... i think they're mostly garbage and are too much like TV soap operas... But I do watch one kids movie in cinema a year, last year was Star Wars (poor), the year before was Batman Vs. Superman (average)... I watched Black Panther recently.... It was ok...

It's a lot more tame than both the hype and controversy would lead you to beleive. I suppose the setting and the marketing strategy allowed the filmmakers to make it a little less cartoony and empty as most marvel film, so there is some abrief allutions to subtance, in particular whether an advanced nation should be isolationist or engagged with the world... And how to do so...

It's still a comic book movie and sufferes from most of the issues of these movies, but the aesthetics are good and the actors are solid. Jordan and Boseman are very good and have a bit to work with.

It was fun, but I'm glad that I'm done with my one-kids-movie-at-cinema quota for the year.. Worth checking out.

The box office stuff does get to be a little much, but clearly people are interested. It's pretty amazing how knowledgeable some folks are about this stuff. I've learned a thing or two myself.

Wouldn't you understand that, even if the movie is extremely popular, there are thousand of people who haven't seen it and are avoiding spoilers and not want to discuss it yet. The movie is only 4 day out in America, you probably have to wait a little longer...

Also, be careful to discuss movies in a place full of trolls and butthurt DC fanboys like this site.

I need not be careful, I can take it, and if this one gets spoiled it's not a huge deal to me, I just promise I will do my best not to spoil anthing for anyone, my original posts asks for no spoilers, maybe I should put it in the title? Anyway I just want to hear an actual discussion from people who have seen it and would like to talk about it as spoiler free as they can manage

It's OK then... However, when I talk about been careful is because these trolls and haters like to "discuss" the movies even without having seen them. Probably taking points from reviews and other sources... For my part, I haven't seen it yet, so I will have to wait until Wednesday to give a real comment on it...

I definitely wouldn't call it a must see even if you are an MCU fan looking forward to the next Avengers film. This is completely separate and doesn't appear to tie into it at all.

Personally, I put it up there with Doctor Strange and Guardians 2. It's not great, but it's good enough. It does get political, but so did Civil War and Winter Soldier, and they were better movies for having done so. The better MCU movies are the ones that give you something to think about in addition to the standard superhero formula.

I plan to see it. It's getting good reviews, I'm in the mood for some dumb fun and CGI, and this movie pisses off the sort of people I despise.

Me, I'd rather watch fun movies starring hot men in spandex!

And yeah, I normally stay away from this board, the troll infestation has been really out of hand. It's as bad as the boards for the last two Star Wars films, which I don't even open any more. Horrible people there.

The only way to make a difference is a holding down a positive presence. I usually stay away from new stuff but I couldn't resist, this one seems cool but there does seem to be hysteria. In real life I just had a pretty horrible troll experience and was pleased to see my account back up when I got home, so MovieChat is looking up!

I've decided that fighting the trolls isn't worth the trouble. Getting involved with toxic people is bad for the peace of mind, even if it's all remote and anonymous. And yes, it's taken me an incredibly long time to come to a state of partial peace of mind, I'm not throwing that away over comic book movies!

If you actually like confronting those idiots, though, you go right ahead.

I don't, that's the thing, this thread is intended to be a place of real discussion and I didn't think I said anything inflamatory, the real troll got walked away from for sure
