Why does every movie in existence do this?

These people live in New York City and have entry level college educated jobs, yet they live in what would be $2.5 million apartments in Manhattan. Literally every movie that takes place in New York has the lead living in a multi million dollar place like we're idiots.

I do find that aspect of movies & shows really ridiculous. Now, in this particular movie, had they shown all 3 guys (including the Dr friend) lived together, I could maybe buy they could afford a decent apartment

reply

Just watched this, they all didn't live together at all. The dr friend was crashing there because of his divorce that's all.

reply

Yeah, he knows they don't live there. He was saying that if they WERE together he would buy the premise.

reply

Same reason all the protagonist are cast to be sexy, good looking models, its a fairy tale.

reply

Yeah, yeah, you're right of course. This was really just a rhetorical rant. Not even sure why I posted it. I was drinking a lot of scotch when I watched the movie.

exactly....

He's nothing next to Bart Taylor.

I also get annoyed by the fact that movies act like I am an idiot when they have people whispering or walking or making some kind of noise while they're hiding and we're expected to believe their whispering is completely inaudible to anyone but the audience. Give me a break. It's like when people are 'whispering' in the theater and thinking that just because they're whispering, that they're not being heard. If everyone else is being quiet around you, guess what? You're not so quiet!

So when Miles Teller and the girl are having sex in the shower during the party and Zac comes in, we're expected to believe he can't hear them when he's not making any noise? Give me a break! They're making noise!

Those would be million dollar apartments? Damn I'm glad I live in the south.

It clearly showed that the lead's parents were loaded. They could have bought him the apartment...

I like this explanation 

Lol I know, they always seem to have it all - good jobs, big apartments, active social lives, non stop parties or clubs/bars, able to pay for drinks and takeouts constantly, different girl in their bed, a paid-for coffee every morning for breakfast (seriously just make some at home!)

They must make amazing money!

Are you sure they're entry level gigs ? They had to be like 28-29. Wouldn't be too uncommon for someone that old to have a decent living space. But I do agree, I was shocked that at least two of them weren't living together..idk.

So Say We All

It's a MOVIE, not a documentary. What is so difficult to understand about that? These are not the kind of movies that would work well with 'real world' accommodation settings.
