Nobody tried to rape the girl?
I'm pretty sure if you send a girl to a group of young men who have been living in the wild for several years, sex is 100% on the menu.
shareHaving read all these responses about whether they would or would not have raped her, everyone seems to miss the point. The story is not about their sexual relationships, it is about the Maze and their escape etc.
So what, the film doesn't expand on their sexual exploits and the morality of them. I didn't see anyone take a dump, it doesn't mean I question their digestive motives. I'm glad that nobody raped her, tried it on with her, gave her furtive glances - that is not what the story is about. If they had done it would have been a different film entirely.
They gave the rather simplistic rule that one should not harm another Glader to quash this whole theme. That's enough for me, it moves the plot along in the desired direction without having to dwell on the moral conundrum of introducing a female into the all male society.

Hmm, well that's a good point. However, you and I both know that the girl is going to hook up with the main character so it's not entirely the case that the female vs. male aspect is ignored entirely.
shareOh yes, I'm sure in the next film they probably do get together. And if every movie trope I've ever seen is to be relied upon, then their getting together is inevitable.
I enjoyed this film all the more because it wasn't a generic romance.
