Almost loved the movie, till the ending
Booring open ending
It remindes me of the ides of march
And i regreted watching both movies.

Totally agree with you on the lack of ending.
shareI thought the ending was fine. He'd snatched 'victory' from the jaws of defeat: his public reputation had survived while his personal life had collapsed. All that applause and his daughter can't even look him in the eye. All that talk at his birthday party about realising what really mattered in life, those words were utterly hollow.
shareI thought it was a perfect ending. If you follow the film from the beginning Miller compromises and loses one relationship after another. By the climax his wife is handing him documents titled "Separation Agreement".
As was said, Miller got his finances sorted out to a degree, but that money cost him his relationships.
Miller's comment about money being the only thing there is... the film demonstrates quite clearly that relationships are there... Relationships are what is left when money is gone.
Miller's lost both. His wife is taking his foundation and leaving him, he's lost his daughter, the son of his long time employee is walking away from him. Miller's lost his mistress too.. he's lost everything...
Someone in an earlier thread said this film is somehow validating corrupt behavior. I hardly think the film suggests anyone should follow Robert's example. I don't think this film is advocating fraud and infidelity any more than MacBeth advocates usurpation and murder.
This film is a classic tragedy, and a good one...
None of that happens in the movie
