This Was Better Than Star Wars Episode 7

In my humble opinion, this was a much better film than Star Wars: The Force Awakens. After watching the hodge-podge of sci-fantasy that is Star Wars, I found myself in dire need of watching a good film. I put off watching Ender's Game because I thought it was going to be a child's film...but wow was I impressed.

It's kind of slow, but a methodical slow -- it has something to say and has somewhere to go. I like that character development is the nucleus of the story and that they let events unfold organically. This felt like a well put together film. Harrison Ford also turned in a brilliant performance, along with Ben Kingsley.

It was so disappointing that after recently watching Star Wars I came away feeling like it left a big void in my mind and I had to fill it with something more... substantial. I guess it's to say that at the end of Ender's Game it left you with something to think about -- something to ponder. Star Wars Episode 7 left me with vapid questions I almost don't care to receive the answers to.

In my humble opinion

Your opinion is wrong. Glad we cleared that up.

WORDS MEAN THINGS! Also, before you come to bitch about a plot hole, rewatch the show/movie.

Well it's an opinion, so he can't be wrong. My opinion only new hope and empire are worth a chit. All the others are regurgitated crap. Ender's was better than most of them.

Conratulations. You have proven with a single sentence that you understand absolutely nothing regarding subjectivity.

Still Shooting With Film!

This was a waste of a good book.

Couldn't agree more.

I also agree with you, and am sorry this movie didn't perform better at the box office. I would have liked seeing some of the following-on books converted to movies -- if Ender's Game was a representative sample.

Rest in peace, Roger Ebert. You were the best.

reply

Yeah, I too would have loved to seen where they would have gone with the series. It was a very fascinating movie.

I think a large part of the movie's box office problems was that it wasn't marketed very well.

reply

Way, way, way better than SW7, even if it is a vastly inferior adaptation of the book.

SW7 was an insult to any thinking brain, starting with its title... (What, ”The Force”, the binder of the whole Universe, ever slept?)

reply

must be sad to be so alone with that opinion

reply

But he is not alone :) . SW7 was an insult to logic and thinking at large, even SW episodes 1,2 and 3 (yep.. prequels) were genius compared to Ep. 7 .. Ender's game is simply in a different class :)

reply

This is the most ridiculous understatement I've heard in a while.. Saying this film is better than Star Wars 7 is like saying The Godfather is better than The Fast and the Furious...unfortunately, it wasn't marketed well and performed terribly so we won't see a sequel while they'll continue to crap out sequels to Star Wars for decades or however long the toys and merchandise keep leaving shelves.

it is better than episode 7, but star wars fans are too stuck up to admit it

I am a Star Wars fan and I think this is head and shoulders better than episode 7.

I agree. Episode 7 was just awful.

Ender's Game was not a complete success, but light years better than The Farce Awakens.
