Am I the only one here who can't help but to compare Shame to American Psycho? I don't know where I'm getting the similiarities from. Maybe because the maincharacters of each movie, Brandon and Patrick, is living a flamboyant life. And they're both hiding something from the public, Bradon being a nymphomaniac and Patrick being, well, yeah, a psycho. Of course it's also implied that their behaviour originates from their past. Well, maybe not so much in the American Psycho movie, but at least in the novel.

you know that is really interesting because the last time I was watching this movie I just thought of the movie American psycho and I don't know why. maybe it was the high class office job that they both had and the flamboyant lifestyles that they both lived or maybe it was the tone of both films. do you think it's the tone of both films being similar?

I would say that's definitely part of it. Although American Psycho was somewhat of a satire, both films had this cold and detached tone just like the characters. There also seemed to be a theme of deception and the risk of these characters getting caught played heavily into the tone for me, as well. And for all of the other reasons mentioned above I feel similar vibes.

All I could think lf while watching this movie was american psycho , they have like the same vibe same type of character but different stories . I like both
