shareCJ by a mile. Margaret was the popular girl someone like Mordecai would have a crush on in HS from afar, but their lives are on entirely different tracks. Not only do he and CJ have much better chemistry but, as someone also pointed out in another post, whether the writers are doing it intentionally or not, since CJ has been around it seems like the other characters have changed for the better too (well, Muscle Man & Rigby, anyway).

shareCJ, I think M took the lessons learned from his times with Marge and is not using them to have a better overall relationship with CJ......... or I could be reading too much into relationships between animated characters.

Margaret caused a lot of stress for Mordecai. Mordecai all but killed himself for her, all for naught. Who would go away to college and NEVER call your boyfriend? She never even suggested a long-distance relationship! Mordecai was in a period of depression that could have gotten worse!
With CJ, Mordecai is less nervous and more confident. There's genuine love and trust for each other. They're perfect for each other.

I feel like an idiot, I just posted basically the same topic, because I couldn't find yours, when it was right on the first page.
Anyway, I prefer CJ, I have arguments with like all of my friends because they prefer Margaret and they hate CJ.
I didn't like Margaret because every other episode she had a new boyfriend, and it kinda seemed like she was leading Mordecai on you know?
I like CJ better because they seem to have more in common and they get along better.
CJ's a total jerk who destroys things and makes Mordecai run back to her. If I could, I would eliminate romance in this show entirely, but if I had to choose, I would choose Margaret, definitely.

I mean I don't really care about the romantic side much either, but CJ is a really annoying character and tends to emotionally blackmail Mordecai often, too often for a healthy relationship [even for a show like this one]. Margaret on the other hand was chill, very sweet to Mordecai and I liked her tbh. Besides, having all of the EXACT SAME interests does not equate to 'soul mates' or whatever the CJ fans label the Mordecai/CJ relationship as. :/
