No! 7 is OK for Pacific Rim. War of the Worlds deserves 3 of 4.

I agree. War of the worlds was poor entertainment, especially with that obvious, the-boy-survived-because-the-test-screen-wanted-him-to tacked on ending.

I'd give WOTW a -2. hideous abomination of HG Wells story.

War of the Worlds was nothing to write home about so I'd say it's 6.5 score is earned but Pacific Rim is a 5 at best.

It completely failed for me as a movie. The screenplay was bordering on the ridiculous and I think way to family-centered. No swearing, sex, love, kissing and any of that sorts which eases character development.

I figure WoW and PR cannot be compared.

Still the VFX keeps it afloat. So 6/10 or 7/10.

I also think Pacific Rim was never meant to be anything but big, dumb and fun action movie with big giant robots and monsters. And it fulfilled its premise there. War of the Worlds tried to be a little something more and failed.
