Let's get away from the casting controversy for a bit.
I'm not sure how many of you here remember the original soundtrack thread, where people posted songs they felt might fit the Dark Tower movie(s). Sadly, that thread seems to have been bumped off the boards, most likely due to the slew of new threads within the last month or so. Therefore, I thought it would be a good idea to start a new one. :)
I did find the thread OP's playlist s/he created with most of the songs that we suggested (some videos were deleted):
Pixies Is she weird. Such a Detta and Odetta song. The lyrics adequately describe both of them and also the 'her head has no room' seems very fitting. Pixies songs have been gaining popularity in soundtracks for a while now too and as a personal favourite, i would love to see it in there. Though obviously it would have to be in a sequel if there is one.

Ha - yeah, judging by the lyrics, this is definitely a song for Miz Holmes lol. With her in mind, lyrics in the beginning could be seen as Detta is talking to Odetta: I know you're rich in / Good clothes and little things / Your mind is fancy...
The chorus can be looked at in all kinds of ways. Is she weird,: Yes, in the sense that she has DID. Is she white: Not literally lol. But being affiliated with "the White" is in her future. Is she promised to the night: Her Detta side initially seems to be.
time for a bump sugr? As usual i'll contribute my randomness
Mr. Cimbalista by Orangutang
Not sure where the music would fit, but they directly sing about Ophelia Todd on Speckled Bird Mountain, but seems too obscure to find the lyrics online anywhere (reading Mrs. Todd's shortcut now). I'm just liking the idea of nods to fans... :)

Ha - thanks for the bump! 👍 (I've been pretty busy lately and haven't been able to check in as often.)
My first thought when I heard Driving around in your great big car / Mr. Cimbalista, you know who you are was "low men." I can imagine this in a part of the movie where several low men would be driving around in their "great big cars" stalking and keeping tabs on Jake.

Ah - here are some I haven't seen mentioned yet. :)
“The Unforgiven” - Metallica: Definitely a Roland theme if I’ve ever heard one.
“Leaving Home Ain't Easy” - Queen: Reminds me of when Jake leaves his home behind for Dutch Hill Mansion and Mid-World.
“Like a Hurricane” - Neil Young: When Eddie realizes he’s falling in love with Odetta but is battling with his feelings because of Detta.
“I’ll Never be Anybody's Hero Now” - Morrissey: End credits theme of the last episode of the W&G TV show? That, or it could be played during Susannah’s trip back to Fedic after burying Eddie.
“Lucky” - Radiohead: This one makes me think of W&G, when tensions between Roland’s ka-tet and the Big Coffin Hunters and Susan’s situation had all reached the breaking point.
“1000 Oceans” - Tori Amos: Makes me think of Susannah mourning Eddie.
“Without You I'm Nothing” - Placebo: This makes me think of when Roland’s mind was taken by Maerlyn’s Grapefruit.
“Across The Universe” - Rufus Wainright: This one makes me think of a dream or vision of Can’-Ka No Rey, especially because of the part that says:
Sounds of laughter, Shades of earth Are ringing through my opened mind Inciting and inviting me. Limitless undying love, which Shines around me like a million suns And calls me on and on across the universe.
That definitely reminds me of the roses. Nice picks!
"Grace" - Jeff Buckley: I can imagine young Roland alone in his room after returning from Mejis, with his last night with Susan and the sight of her in Maerlyn's Grapefruit constantly running through his mind.
"Country Feedback" - R.E.M.: I could see this playing during a montage of Eddie's life growing up with Henry and their mom.
Ha - you're right! (That's part of the reason why I bumped it recently.) As a matter of fact, I'll probably create a doc - and maybe a YouTube playlist - with all of the songs listed here.
