Well, let's see... She was a stripper in her 20's in the first movies and then aliens show up and kill hundreds of millions. (I think the filmmakers said somewhere around 3 billion, but that's over half the planet at the time. Anyway, a lot of people would be dead and they would need doctors. Maybe she was in medical school while she was dancing? And she's not just some doctor, I believe she's head of the hospital. But whatever. She obviously has the talent. And yes, her connection to Steve probably helped.
