Did Frank eat Don?

I wonder if the scene where they release Don's remains and Clara states it's "Grownut" means that Frank accidentially ate the remains of Don as part of his liquid feeding?

No, they left him back at the cabin or home or some such, in otherwords they forgot him, a horrific end to a depressing life.

I took it as he did accidentally eat Don but upon reading this post, I'll admit that it could be either way (at least till I give the scene a close scrutiny as to what they actually say and if it's implied or not)..
