They rip people off! (Including you!!)

I started watching this show with a laptop in front of me. Every time they buy something I look up how much they sell for on Ebay and man... they're final values are way off!

For example, he valued a vintage vokswagon lunchbox at $150, but they go for 600+ on Ebay... and he payed $80 for it.

There are other examples, but I recommend looking up the prices of the items. I feel like they put the values low cause they don't want people to know they rip them off.

:D

But I love the show.

You're right that they rip people off. If you look closely, you can often see Frank and/or Mike off to the side looking up Ebay prices on their own laptops. After verifying the going rate, they [try to] hide their laptops and proceed to offer about 13% of the actual value. Of course, Mike and Frank don't ever share their newfound knowledge with anyone, because they are clearly dishonest, greedy, money-grubbing, selfish people. What nerve, I say!!1!

Oh, wait...

These people just don't get it, I don't haggle like mike and frank though but if I go to a yard sale and something is being sold for 2 dollars and I agree with the price I'll pay the 2 dollars, just because the item is worth 80 dollars doesn't mean I am going to state as such and offer more that would be foolish.

Why would they? Its NOT their job to tell sellers how much their stuff is worth. Sellers needs to do their homework.

If you look closely, you can often see Frank and/or Mike off to the side looking up Ebay prices on their own laptops.

And that's bad ... why? Before you buy a car, do you check online prices (such as KBB) to see how much the car is worth or do you show up at the dealership hoping that the dealer will tell you the fair price?

After verifying the going rate, they [try to] hide their laptops and proceed to offer about 13% of the actual value.

Key word OFFER. If the seller feels that 13% (I'm going by your made up numbers) is a low number - they can easily say "no".

I'm clearly making fun of the OP's failed logic.

And that's bad ... why?

Ummmm...what's really bad is your inability to grasp sarcasm. Have you ever even watched American Pickers? When have you ever seen Mike and/or Frank do what I described ["If you look closely, you can often see Frank and/or Mike off to the side looking up Ebay prices on their own laptops."]???? LOL!

If the seller feels that 13% (I'm going by your made up numbers) is a low number...

The OP, myIDhasalreadybeentaken, wrote "For example, he valued a vintage vokswagon lunchbox at $150, but they go for 600+ on Ebay... and he payed $80 for it." I'll give you a quick math lesson: If 10% of 600 is 60 and 3% of 600 is 18, then 13% of 600 is what number? Can you tell me again how you're going by my "made up numbers"? LOL!

Frank did pay $10 for a dead housefly in one episode.
