1. Lettys death could have been staged by cops and/or Brian to keep her safe

2. Funerals are not always open casket - so could have been rocks/tires/etc in it (yes...I watch too much Law & Order eps)

3. Oddly from how they showcased Elena (perhaps she was Letty with plastic surgery). Especially from her finding Doms necklace on the ground - as if she knew what it meant. Along w/ Dom telling her that he knew who she was prior to (so called) losing the necklace. Maybe Letty was given a job w/ the force due to her need to free Dom (prev movie situation). Even at ending ... they showcased Dom/Elena as an item although they (the movie) didn't showcase any romance between them.

4. One thing that bothered me about my theory was Elenas family background - although, we nvr did find out about Lettys family. So perhaps my theory could be true (yet it could not be)...up to you all to make own decision.

And yet u didn't back your (own) theory up to why mine is impossible.

Also wanted to add for anyone who could claim diff -
1. At end when the girl from 2nd movie shows up to mention Letty ... could be assumed that scene was done prior to movies beginning. Meaning that Hobbs helped Letty into undercover work or knew about it - which would explain why he choose Elena to help him out. As we noticed in her intro ... "Its not my smile..."
2. At ending Brian/Mia were too cool w/ Dom being w/ Elena (whom he so called just met). I state that due to Mia still being pregnant ... so wasn't like Dom had months to get in touch w/ Elena along w/ his sister (whom was sitting on beach chatting her up).

Lisa,

The reason as to why your theory is impossible, is because Monica (the agent from 2 Fast 2 Furious), dropped into Hobbs' office and said that the military convoy hijacking happened at Berlin 3am this morning - so you see, it could not have been Letty considering that Dom and Elena were living together at an undisclosed location.

Who said that Dom and Elena were living together??? All we see is Dom and Elena coming to visit Mia and Brian...

I would not jump so far as to say there were living together...

Seeing as Dom was a criminal and Elena was now with him, it's something that we must assume. Obviously they're not in Rio, they would've moved to a country with no extradition. And Dom and Elena had that touching moment when he went to her home to retrieve his crucifix, so even though it's not confirmed, it's most likely assumed.

I saw that part with the subtitles/captions on, and he actually says "They know who you are" after she screams out "Policia", referencing that the bad guys know she's a rookie cop and not bought by Reyes and don't really care that she's police, they'll still kill her.

I do wonder what the connection is between the two, as it seems Elena knows who she is. But I doubt they are the same, especially since Elena had a husband while Letty was with Dom the past however many years.

Re: # 3 - It is my belief that Elena is Elena... no plastic surgery could take Letty and turn her into Elena AND don't forget she would have to completely change her accent so drastically.

So no, Letty will return in Fast Six or whatever they call it and I am excited for that. Big fan of Michelle Rodriguez and was happy at the end of Fast Five when the girl asks: "Do you believe in ghosts?"

Plus... Han was seen driving in Berlin w/ Gisele and of course, Letty turns up in Berlin. It was my impression that since Dom was chilling w/ Brian and Elena and Mia that it was obvious that none of them were in Berlin... and the girl stated that the report was NOT about Dom... so...

Six will bring Letty back - no idea what's going to happen w/ Elena though. Oh, and you said that the movie didn't showcase any romance between them {Dom & Elena} and I would say you're way off base there. There are several times when they exchange very meaningful looks and the sexual tension is thick as smoke...

As far as a theory to disprove what you're asking, all I can say is if Letty turned into Elena, why did they have Letty's photo in the report at the end when - presumably - Elena was nowhere near Berlin?

In short, to have a third rate add-on character like Elenabe a plastic-surgeried update of Letty, with a new voice, historical background and coincidentally meeting dom in the same city would be beyond ridiculous from a writing perspective, and a huge slap in the face to fans of Letty, Michelle Rodriguez, and franchise fans.

It would be from a writing and directing perspective a huge fail to have audiences believe Letty was returning only to later say, oh wait, just kidding, she was in 5 but you didnt know because of the plastic surgery LOL gotchu!

She also speaks nothing like her, different height, and outside of a Mission Impossible movie would not have ever been able to have the position she had in 5 - job, family, history, etc.

They also never hinted at it in the 5th film. If it was Letty they would have shown some background scenes about it or at least her getting emotional or doing SOMETHING that tied her to a Letty exclusive habit.

Writing 101 - certain things are ridiculous copouts, you just don't do them professionally. "It was all a dream", "deus ex machina", etc. All examples of lazy writing. Cheesy lines here and there coupled with intense stares are nothing close to the ridiculousness you are suggesting.

So what are you saying that in part 6 Letty is going to Redo her surgery to look as her old self.

I'm with Kevin and the others on this. They are two different people. If Elana is Letty what is the point of Michelle Rodriguez coming back to play Letty?

Sadly Kevin waited till to finally post after my initially thread post. Find it odd u agree w/ him/her after all this time (no offense but seems like perhaps u 2 r 1 in the same).

I agreed w/ another poster till thinking that perhaps the 6th movie is a previous version of either this one or another. Rewatched this and its obvious the scene shown at ending was meant to perhaps been previous to this movie (via statements Hobbs says to Monica about Toretto).

If my theory stands (rather if its true or not) - If another movie comes out ... it will be set prior to this movie given background to what happened w/ Lettys so-called death. Perhaps leading into her meet w/ Hobbs. Yes! I heard Michelle R is going to be in Fast 6 but doesn't mean that version is meant 2 b after this movie. Perhaps it's possible that the 6th is prior to this version.

Fast 6 is right after fast 5. Luke Hobbs is continue his pursuit of Dominic and he will do so by going after Letty in part 6.

This is suppose to be trilogy after part 4,5 and 6.

It’s been previously stated that the fourth installment, Fast & Furious, was the beginning of a new story arc in the franchise – one that continued in Fast Five, and will carry on into Fast and the Furious 6.

Everything is connected.Han is going to Berlin with Giselle and who is in Berlin? Letty stealing military convoy while do was cuddling the Elana.

Seriously, they are not the same person.

1. There is no IF. There is a movie coming out, there is a release date, they're filming.

2. The next movie will be after F5. Another prequel is out of the question, the moviemakers already said the next film will follow F5.

3. The consensus in this thread indicates your botox facelift chintuck theory is in the microscopic minority.

4. Googlevitch and I actually are not the same person. In fact I remember I got mad at him for something back when F5 didnt even have a title, but we made up :)

Im sorry but the OP doesn't really know about movies at all, that is really outlandish and stupid to make that statement. Even in the case of stolen identity it would be too farfetched to make it that elaborate. Letty will be in the 6th movie, and you know how many loose ends you would have to tie up to make this make sense.

You should delete this post and never come on this site again for not doing your homework before making claims and being so stubborn to undercut even the director on what his plans are, 6 will continue after 5...

I knew there was a reason I just couldn't get past thinking during every scene they were in together that is was just Dom confronting his evil, goateed twin.

They don't need to claim it because everyone knows that's exactly what's going to happen. Hobbs is listed in the cast for Fast 6 (or whatever it ends up being called) so obviously it'll be continuous (seeing as he met Dom for the first time in Fast 5).

Also they wouldn't give that Letty cliffhanger ending if it weren't to continue.

Obviously your theory is very wrong but it also makes no sense as its too improbable. I'm happy the series maintained being more grounded in reality than your theory which is way over the top
