Aria and Ezra

Going from twitter and tumblr to here I can't help but notice the amount of hate, that is displayed here, for these characters and their relationship campared to those other sites. As of right now I am kind off indifferent towards their relationship, they are both adults now and can take their own decisions. However, I am very curious of the arguments on this board and I am going to narrow their relationship down to 3 parts. I will start with my opinions:

Season 1-3 (student-teacher drama, BEFORE it was revealed that he was writing a book): At this time I think I didn't really care that their relationship was illegal. I liked the characters and the actors chemistry was amazing, that was why I took a liking to them. People have to remember that this is a fictional tv-series, the rules in reality doesn't apply here, and the main characters in all tv-series does questionsble things throughout the series, still we often like them either way. It's a fictional world and we like to strech the limits. Besides they made it clear and really took an effort to show that Ezra was not a creep. He was the one who wanted to end the relationship seversl times, but Aria wouldn't let hem. Aria was always the one to call the shots and they didn't even have sex until the end of season 2, if I remember it correctly.

Season 4-6A (when he was revealed): I don't know where the Hell Marlene was going with this when she wanted them to get together again. It was creepy, disgusting and plainly weird. Now here is the predator we missed in the first seasons, but why take such a turn? We had never ever seen that side of him before. Dumb and stupid considering they ended up together again.

Season 6B-7 (after the time jump): They are both adults now so I don't see anything wrong with them now. I just find myself not including the events in season 4 when I think about their relationship today, I like to think that it never happened since it was so badly done.

I am going to respectfully disagree with some of your points. First of all, I think that all of us (hopefully) understand that this is a fictional series. However, I wouldn't say that the 'rules in reality' don't apply here. Or at least, I don't personally give them a pass just because it's fiction. Of course, these shows are dramatized and in many ways we are asked as an audience to suspend disbelief regarding certain elements of the show (like the Mission Impossible masks), but I don't think there is anything wrong in analyzing a show's characters with regard to their personality/actions and forming an opinion about whether we like or dislike them for whatever reason.
Now, the whole argument about Ezra trying to push Aria away and she wouldn't let him...He was the ADULT in the situation. And it wasn't like she drugged him or something. If his character had any level of integrity...well, if his character had any level of integrity he wouldn't have made out with a 15-year old girl in an attempt to gather information about a story. And I understand that you are dividing your opinion of Ezria into seasons, but I can't rewatch early episodes without all of that knowledge informing my opinion. If it wasn't already creepy that he was having this super intense relationship with his student (and I always felt like it was) then it was DEFINITELY creepy after we learned the truth about him.

As far as the present-day relationship, I just feel like they are incredibly boring. I loved what Liam had to say about it, and that someone finally called them out on the dysfunction surrounding their relationship. Is there anything *illegal* with their relationship now? No. But is it this beautifully romantic love story? I don't see it that way at all.

I've always liked them but then again, I'm heavy into romance. I'm also different in that I don't believe age matters and I don't tar everyone with the same paint brush. I agree that predator relationships are wrong, if it's something mutual like theirs was, then more power to them. It would just be smarter to wait until they've graduated.

I like to ignore that season happened too. It never made any sense. Of course Marlene likes to twist the past to suit her "new" ideas and "reveals" because she's just oh so "smart". *sigh* It doesn't make someone smart and progressive because you come up with some halfassed idea and call it brilliant, ignoring all the plot holes that result because of it. It's only brilliant if you make it all fit together.

Since Fitz lied about his intentions and by acting like he didn't know who she was in the beginning, it can't be defined as mutual.

I've got nothing against God, it's his fanclub I can't stand

You'd never be able to tell unless the writers told us it was five years later. With the way Aria acts, you'd think she's still in high school. Same with the other three Liars and Alison.

Well, I mean if we're going based just on the first three or three and a half-ish seasons then I think they have at least a semi creepy relationship simply because he was her teacher. And I just don't really get why a recently college graduated 20-something would want to date a 16 year old, since they're in such different places in life.

But if we're adding in the whole thing that we found out at the end of season four where Ezra turns out to be a super creepy stalker who was secretly meeting with Ali before she disappeared and stalking her friends and bugging their phones and crap since she disappeared, that just makes his relationship with Aria super creepy.

Once upon a time there was a magical place where it never rained. The end.
