Sequel The Girl Who Played With Fire IS coming

Gossip or not, could be a mistake? Additional to the Spider's Web -adaptation, it looks like they will make the original trilogy also.

Sony has featured the Girl Who Played With Fire in a "sizzle reel". Source: http://comicbook.com/2016/04/13/sony-cinemacon-presentation-spider-man-passengers-more/

I read the news on movie news sites EXCELLENT !! ????

Although Fincher and crew did a great job this film is my go to example of an unnecessary remake.
I love the original films better and I think I'm not in the minority.
All that is my way of say I hope they never make the sequals.

reply

It's not a remake.

I agree. It is an adaptation of the novel, separate from the swedish series w Noomi Rapace. It was a different tone, this American one, I thought very well casted and very well made all around. Its been six years though, I keep hearing they will make a sequel and continue the books, but its been six years

I can't believe someone in the internet agreed with me on something ?

I doubt you're in the majority. The Swedish trilogy was not all that great by any means. 1st film was excellent. 2nd film was ok. 3rd film will put you to sleep. The sequels deserve much better treatment.

WOLVES DON'T LOSE SLEEP OVER THE OPINION OF SHEEP!

I personally didn't even like the 1st one. It differed too much from the book... and Fincher nailed it.

+1
Couldn't stand to watch the Scandinavian version : too TV, too boringly cheap, and Blomqvist uber badly casted (an alcoholic loser whose appeal eludes the viewer).
So I waited for the US version and (except for the hammering credits) Fincher's work is top-notch, prime example of an excellent adaptation.

reply

The credits ROCKED🎸!

I don't understand how it is unnecessary? Not everyone wants to watch a Swedish movie and read subtitles. Why should Stieg Larsson's work not reach as wide of an audience as possible? I would understand your comments of the release of this movie somehow erased the original Swedish versions from existence but that is not the case.

This I never understood. Why do you hope that? How would that effect your life in the slightest?

reply

you are in the minority.

reply

about time, I want sequels.

reply

don't hold on to hope

Two years later and it’s been confirmed a sequel will be made without any of the original team. Claire Foy is going to be Lisbeth in the new one.

Well, damn. Though Claire is a great actress, one of the biggest reasons a sequel was anticipated by many was the hope of seeing Rooney return to the role (I wanted to anyway). Of course, not having Fincher on board is disappointing as well.
