joaquin deserved the oscar over DDL

don't get me wrong, DDL's performance was outstanding - well resarched, amazingly executed, and probably oscar worthy any other year.

but the raw energy and physicality that joaquin brought to the role just cannot be beaten, IMO.

Entirely agreed, he deserved it on all counts....Physicality of his performance was something to watch, somewhat resembling Day-Lewis' physicality in There Will Be Blood, but even more animalistic.

If your goal is to win an Oscar all you have to do is do a decent job portraying a beloved American figure or a victim of the Holocaust. All others those years are sol.

reply

I agree that he should've won. Either him or Bradley Cooper. I do like DDL, but I feel that he won because he did a REALLY good impersonation of Abraham Lincoln.

reply

Joaquin may not ever win an Oscar. The academy has repeatedly looked him over when he has turned out golden performaces. He should have won for The Master & Walk the Line.
