Charlie Day is so annoying
I'm going to ignore every movie he's in now based on how annoying his voice is.

If you've seen Always Sunny from the beginning, you won't find him annoying. In the beginning he's very seldom speaking in that loud, squealish, screamish kind of voice. And then it gets gradually more and more as his character becomes more outlandish. You don't notice the transition.
But if you watch him for the first time in Horrible Bosses I recognize that it can be a bit much. I don't think he, the writers or directors really thought about it since I'm pretty sure all of them have seen all of Always Sunny considering how many references and borrowing ideas it is from that show (I mean Charlie Day's character even watches Law & Order and consider himself some kind of lawyer, is incredibly stupid, only has eyes for one woman, Jason Sudeikis has a recurring role on Always sunny).
Even one joke that is recurring consistently on Always Sunny with Charlie's delivery is in this movie. In always sunny, when they are coming up with a scheme and they give Charlie the worst part of it and is sort of patronizing towards him when suggesting it, he starts the sentence like he's really offended but punch-lines that he's that easily manipulated that he's glad to.
Example always sunny: Dennis and Frank has bought cop uniforms for walking around pretending to be cops taking advantage of the power.
Charlie: "What, you didn't buy me one? You know how much I love dressing up".
Dennis: "No, but you can use regular clothes and be an undercover cop" (obviously then getting none of the respect/power Frank and Dennis while utilize when people think they are cops)
Charlie: "DAMMIT!!!! That is SUCH a good idea!
Example #2: Mac and Dennis talking about how in their gang they have a role like in a comedy/adventure movie like Ghostbusters.
Mac: "Dennis you're the looks, and I'm the Brain"
Charlie: "But man, what am I?"
Mac: "You are... eh... the wild card..?"
Charlie: "What the hell man! I LOVE that"
Example Horrible Bosses: Breaking in to one of the bosses house.
Bateman and Sudeikis (obviously thinking Charlie will only mess things up): "You'll stay out here, you be the look-out"
Charlie: "Whaaaaaat? Are you kidding me? That's AWESOME I love that"
And both in Always Sunny and he gives a disgusted, disapproving and offended facial expression until exactly where the part in the middle of the sentence where he approves and he looks super-happy. That' so obviously ripped straight from Always sunny in this, as is the law&order and lawyer-lingo etc.
Completely agreed. If I hadn't been such a fan of Always Sunny, I might have a different opinion on Charlie Day.
shareCool man! I thought he was hilarious and his voice only adds to it. Hes a great actor and I cant wait to see him in more comedies
Dear Warden, You were right. Salvation lies within.

The character is meant to be annoying, so his voice fits here...
Your mother puts license plates in your underwear? How do you sit?!
I love Charlie Day! He was great in the movie and he's my favorite character in 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' To all the people complaining about Charlie day, consider the alternative the imdb trivia said that Ashton Kutcher was attached for the role of Dale. Enough said.
shareLol i know, his voice at the end almost made my eardrums burst!
Ashmi any question
He really is annoying, I was thinking of going to a bar to set up a meeting with MF Jones myself.
Its that man again!!
Charlie Day was the only reason I gave this movie a shot. In terms of annoyance, Jennifer Aniston takes the cake on this one.
shareI don't think he's annoying at all! He's hilarious!
shareHe was very funny in this. Some people seem to be judging him at least partly because his character was coked up for a short time and behaving irrationally; part of the complaints about him seem to stem from the character's poor decisions, but really they all (the three leads) made bad decisions at times. The fact that Charley's character's quick thinking got them released right away from the police station should account for something.
When people criticize Day's voice in this it makes me wonder if their TV speakers are different than mine.
