It's really a Taken plot that happens to be Santa, but it really didn't need to be. You could put this script on an action movie and not have to change much besides making the characters regular people. The opening was so lacking in a Christmas vibe, they decorated the office he broke into to a laughable degree, just to remind us it's a Christmas movie.The last 10 minutes are the only thing that felt like a Christmas movie

shareYeah, it really shows how even shitty practical effects can draw viewers in so much more. CGI should compliment practical effects, not replace them.
shareThe movie takes itself too seriously. it's s movie about Santa's abduction! Which itself isn't amenable to a serious treatment. This should have been a proper comedy with plenty of slapstick not drama laced with a few gags. That's why it doesn't work.
shareI fully expected a light action-comedy, I was not ready for this. Tone of the movie is completely wrong. I'm not entirely sure who the target audience is.
