Ideas you would like to see in sequel/ prequel.

RDR seems to had everything down to a tee for a western game theme. Don't know how much they can improve the game. There's only so much you can do in that time period.

-Maybe being able to swim and fish.
-Being able to rob banks and trains.
-More random encounters with people and bandits.

Jet packs and race cars and blowing off people's heads with bazookas and -

Sorry, just trying to beat the moron fan boys and their ideas lol

Not much really;
I'd like to be able to swim or use boats/rafts.
Robbing more things (like you said)
As dumb as this sounds, a bigger map. I loved the map, it was perfect (size and design) but a big map, still holding the same level of detail and design, would be great for me. I know it's not needed as far as gameplay goes, but it's just a personal wish list.
Having a posse make more sense in multiplayer. RDR had the most fun MP I've ever played, but I'd love to be able to form a posse that lasts; rack up stats, hold territory etc. Similar to what they are doing with Max Payne and GTA V.

Nobody ever told me that before.

A darker, even grittier setting and story, I've been wathing a lot of Deadwood lately, so it would be cool if it looked a little like that. Probably set the game right after the civil war with a black war veteran turned bounty hunter as the protagonist, that way you could incorporate storylines involving the end of slavery, the KKK, racism etc, I think that could be interesting. Have larger towns and make each town feel more 'alive', with more side missions in each town etc. Taking the survival thing a few steps further, for example by making you have to eat to survive in the wilderness, wear thick clothes in cold areas so not to freeze to death while you'll have to wear ligther clothes in warmer areas so you don't over-heat etc.

those are pretty much the same things i'd like to see implemented. i found this game too "easy" ... as in i NEVER worried about ammunition, food, anything like that. having proper attire for specific climates is a great idea i hadn't thought of.

i'd also like to see more objects be usable. in Fallout 3 (and Fallout: New Vegas) by Bethesda you can pick up almost any object. and then you can use them in making weapons, medicines, etc. i would REALLY like to see that kind of thing added to RDR. also, merchants will run out of money when you sell stuff to them. it would be great to see Rockstar team up with Bethesda ... especially seeing as Bethesda comes up with these great ideas, but they can't game test for *beep*

further back in the past, of course. (maybe john marston's grandfather or great-grandfather). i'd like to see natives take on a larger role. some who you can ally with and others who want nothing to do with you - except to kill you.

It would be interesting ... if you like social history. Some of those plotlines could be incorporated - SOME of it - but at the end of the day, I don't care all that much and I'm guessing most players don't, either. That kind of stuff is background and window dressing, not the heart of the game. Most players are interested in the action, the doing, the building, the exploring, the skill & improvement it takes to progress through the game, having things to see, find, and do. Whether you're a playing a Freedman or a white guy or a Chinese railroad worker or a Cheyenne Dog Soldier is next to irrelevant. When I play a video game, I'm looking to have fun, not read a textbook.

I really think the character switch of GTAV would work really good for a Red Dead game. Perhaps even better than in GTA.

They could have like four cool characters who eventually team up and form a posse.. I was thinking..

An experienced mountainman, living like a savage in the nature, living by the code of the mountain men (always honest, never lie, never apologise), who works for both the army and helps out the indians, always balancing it out between them to avoid mayor bloodshed.

A Texas Ranger who is slightly arrogant and very proud, with a deep hatred for the native americans since apaches slaughtered his family.

A ex-bank robber who is an outlaw but turns out to be the most likeable of the team, always funny, a man with witty oneliners and always making fun and bullying the others, very charismatic and a true womanizer, he's carefree and a loose canon. He is known to have robbed many banks but just as quickly spend the money on whiskey and women. He and the texas ranger were mortal enemies back in the days.

A smooth and sophisticated Englishman who works as a bounty hunter and helps out the others with a mutual interest.

Each and every character could have their own solo chapter before they eventually team up and work together to defeat a common enemy or something. It'd be extremely awesome if a young John Marston, Dutch van der Linde and the others had a small appearence in the storyline.

Improvements could be a bigger map with more empty nature without roads and stuff, the ability to swim and more ways of living off the land like fishing and roasting and cooking killed animals, more hunting abilities and so forth. I would also like a bigger town and more settlements, but a big western town would rock because that's what RDR missed in my opinion. Also, a bigger appearence of native americans would be great, the wars between them and the US army could be a great theme in the story. And also, more creative ways of killing people.. like, the Texas Ranger could have a special ability of hanging his victims at a rope on a tree, the mountainmen would have special skills with knives and native american weapons like bow and arrows, the Englishmen would be a perfectly skilled shootist and the bankrobber a good hand-to-hand combatant and brawler being the kind of guy who would start a bar brawl over a woman... stuff like that.

I agree with the robberies and swimming and such but I want to see John Marston again. /:

First, I would say for the record that you CAN rob banks in RDR.

A few things that might be possible:

*A better fighting system rather than just throwing wild punches and tackling. I mean, the shop owner can kick the guy on the ground that I just hogtied for him, but I can't. Maybe even have some bar brawl scenes (Western films are famous for this, of course). Seems like you should be able to pick up bottles or chairs and smash them on people. (Maybe even have a boxing mini-game rather than just five finger fillet, etc., although I get that that might be asking a bit much)
*More options for cutting down on the riding times, even if it's just to tap a button and cut through some of the scenes. Riding and having to listen to dialogue purely for dialogue purposes along the way gets really old on replays.

*The landscape is so huge and great, but it seems like there's a relatively small variety of things to find. Scouring every inch of a ghost town and finding a chest or so full of $14 is boring.

*It may be just me, but it seems like the variety of horses is so large and the variety of weapons really isn't. I'd be happy if there were more weapons choices and the same number of horses or fewer.

*The old Vice City concept of being able to own properties that make profits seems great. Like a ranch or a gambling hall or a ferry company, etc.

*On that note, there needs to be something more with the railroad than just a train.

*There are so many basic plot ideas from great Westerns (or reality) that seem like they could be used. Think OK Corral. Or Wild Bunch. Stuff in Hang 'Em High or High Plains Drifter. Or I think of Pale Rider and Stockburn and his six deputies that come into town. There are some tough customers in RDD, but it seems like there should be some real showdowns against elite opponents. Something like that could make for a cool, tough, and fun challenge.

*As long as there's some kind of war going on (Mexican Civil War, or possibly wars between NAtive tribes and MExican or US govt's), maybe even include some kind of optional mini-game where you an actually strategize and control groups of warriors/soldiers/revolutionaries.

*I don't think they should ever do it again where your character dies in a situation beyond your control. I get the point of the plot, but it would have been extremely fun to have a chance at the end to go up against Ross and all his men rather than walk out the barn door and get blasted. I'm pretty sure I could have killed them all if only the game would have given me the chance. Note to Rockstar: you've built your reputation on giving players unprecedented freedom - don't take that freedom away from them right at a game's climactic moment. Give them a chance, and by all means, go ahead and make it extremely difficult.

I think a game where Jack is the protagonist straight-up being a criminal until redemption becomes a theme later in the game would be cool. Call it Red Dead Renegade or something.

Make Jack a few years older, maybe even a WWI vet like Jimmy Darmotty. Keep the setting in the west, focusing on less-developed areas which would make sense for Jack's renegade storyline. Add in elements as Rockstar is wont to do. Ideas? That's the easy part.

-Clothing stores allowing you to buy individual pieces of clothing to customize unique outfits.
-Motorvehicles you can steal, drive and purchase
-Obviously, more weapons...WWI advanced firearm tech so there should be some cool new toys including man-portable machine guns
-Perhaps a subplot about Jack's time in WWI presented as playable nightmares/flashbacks
-A system that allows the player to upgrade their health, speed and strength (I miss GTA: SA's system)
-More building that you can ENTER and do stuff.
-Another crazy-ass DLC; perhaps a War of the Worlds-esque type dealy.

Gunslinger has a couple of good ideas that can be implemented like the duels screen, the narrative, the change of surroundings as the story unfolds and the character changes course.
and of course the character change in GTA V.
