Who else loved it?

Real great adventure movie, a much better energetic youth throwback than Super 8. Don't be put off by the accents, it's just pure fun. I loved it, one of my favourites now! I couldn't help but give it a 10.

I love this movie! I really don't understand how so many people found it dull, or noting, or why so many people have a problem with the accents and the dialogue. It's a super fun movie. There are so many complaints about the characters being irritating and/or unrelatable; I completely disagree. They're just young teenagers trying to be hard badasses, who get into a lot of trouble. Anyway, this is definitely one of my favorite movies of the last few years.

Completely agree. I thought this was an absolutely awesome film. I had zero beef with the protagonists, in fact I loved them. I mean I really didn’t think it would appeal to me, being somewhat snobbish when it comes to action/comedy combos. But as of now it is the most fun I’ve had with a film in quite a while.

I didn't think it was better than Super 8, which is one of my favorite movies in the last few years, but I thought it was very entertaining. I don't think it's perfect, and I wouldn't give an imperfect movie a 10, but I think it deserves an 8. The accent was part of the characters, they wouldn't have been believable without it.

I thought it was pretty good. A little hard to understand in parts and not the most likable characters, but an overall entertaining flick.

I rented this movie, last week, but gave up about twenty minutes in. Not likable characters, at all.

But in reading the posts on this board (and Film General), it seems like it'd be up my alley. I'll give it another shot down the road.

Yeah, it does get better as it goes along. I think the whole point is that the events of the film force the kids to be heroes and they learn to do good, but, you know, people still need something to complain about.

Thanks. I'll keep it in mind for a rewatch.

I really liked this film, too ... I don't like in the UK, so I don't see anything wrong with having lead characters that are a) black and b) "hoodies".

A lot of the cooments on this board are focused on race and class, but they don't really focus on how entertaining this movie is, which is a shame.

i loved it as well. i dont know why so many people think that because the main characters are flawed and "unlikeable".... that it means that the film is bad. i dont think you have to like the characters to like and appreciate the story.

they were young and dumb at first. they apparently wanted some kind of notoriety or even fame, like many people. in the end they ended up getting in in a different way than they originally went about it. i really dont understand all those people suggesting that they seemed like they were going to rape sam in the beginning. i didnt get that vibe at all. like i said, i just think they were young and dumb like many kids are at first. i dont think they were ever going to actually hurt her and they even say that to her at one point.

I thought it was a good movie. Not great, but good once I good understand what they were saying. The aliens were interesting. I would have like to have learn more about them and where they actually came from.
