Am I the only one who HATED Number 6?

Eveything about her seriously irked me. She came across as a huge, mega-bitch. She also had the stupidest, most arrogant-sounding lines--like the redbull one, and how about John being 'good' with his hands? Ugh. Just the way she talked made me cringe.

Her outfit (really, fingerless leather gloves?) and nasty smudged blue eye shadow all screamed "Look at me, I'm so badass, I can do whatever the hell I want!"

And the explosion? Please. I can forgive cliches if they work well. That was just stupid. I sat there the entire movie, wishing that someone, anyone, would put her in her place.

But I seem to be the only one here...

If you were a guy you'd understand.

"My name is Paikea Apirana, and I come from a long line of chiefs stretching all the way back to the Whale Rider."

I didn't care for her. She was just the boring, perfect, vixen type character. Henri and Sam I felt were the most compelling characters

No 6 was a hardened warrior who had watched as her guardian was killed right in front of her. What do you think she is supposed to dress and act like.. a bouncy blond in a skirt, who files her fingernails all the time?!?! And didn't she look like she might have weighed all of maybe 100 pounds? How can you be so intimidated by her?? You must have some trauma/feelings that need dealing with if it makes you feel so strongly. And to answer your question.. Yes! You're the only one.
Good looking women like No6 and Sarah are the reasons why I go to see movies like this multiple times in theatre. Hollywood did a good job in that respect because they got into my wallet a lot. I must have seen this movie at least 5 times in theatre, which is what I do when I see good looking women in it.. go back and see it over and over.

i liked her blink attacks and teleports :D

I liked her but her dialogue was extremely painful to listen to. So was her delivery of the lines. But overall I thought she was way more appealing than Sarah.

You're a woman, so it's normal to see her as a threat and hate her.

Whatever. I'm a woman and I really liked her and found her to be the most interesting character of the entire film.

I was rolling my eyes when she first started trashing the house and I didn't even know what she looked like.
I blame the directing/editing.
It was very much "I'm trying too hard to convince you I'm so cool."
A bit more understated would've went a long way.

Define "opinion" then get back to me.

I really liked her. I always like it when women are portrayed at the hero or savior rather than some mousy little female who needs to be saved.

reply

I didn't hate her, but my fiancee did. All he did was complain about her every time she appeared.

at least the explosion served an actual plot purpose. when it first started happening i rolled my eyes was like "of course, the stereotypical walk away slow from an explosion gag".

but then we see she's protected from it with her forcefield power. so that was just their way of showing the audience that ability so it wouldnt seem out of the blue at the end when she uses it to save the guy.

but all that said, i'm sure they could have found a less generic and overused way of showing that off. lol

I really liked her and my two sons LOVED her.

I agree, she was the worst part about the movie.. She was chocked full of hollywood cliches..(she blew up a house and walked off in slo-mo, she slashed a guy at his kneecap while gliding on the floor in a super exaggerated move) ugh, yea, she was awful..
