Im way more picky about series I choose to watch now. Hate getting a few seasons in then feeling the need to finish an atrocious show like this,. Its the reason im quitting The Strain right away. God awful writing.
I'm in the 5th ep of season 5 now. I kept hoping that it would improve with the Spielberg name on it but it never did. The combat was always unrealistic, the science fiction unresearched and by the episode Pope Breaks Bad, I was hoping Pope would put a bullet into Tom Mason's brain pan. I've never despised a main character more in my 50 years of television viewing.
I really wish I'd not started this series as I missed out on some other shows like Extant.
Series like Continuum, Orphon Black and the new Expanse I don't regret. The Expanse seems to have brought in science consultants, includes political scheming, interesting character development, and is rewatchable a second or third time.
If they are going to produce a science fiction series maybe they all should take after ReGenesis and give their science adviser billing alongside the actors.
