I understand not liking the ending...

But why did so many watch 5 seasons of a show they hated? I don't get it.

reply

I didn't. Fast forwarded through nearly all of them since they got so bizarre.

reply

Simple. For me it was pulp fiction. trash. a guilty pleasure. Everybody has something that they know is really bad, but they do it anyway.

It's like those newsstand novels that come out every couple of days. Those with 40 bad writers behind them, rechewing every story now and then. It's a multimillion dollar business.

I enjoyed the first 2 seasons and liked Season 3. After that the writers had a brain damage somehwere, and Season 4 was terrible, but after watching it i said to myself that it could not be any worse than that, and the Season 5 arrived, and since it was the final season, i stay till the end.
I almost had brain damage myself after watching this season till the end with the terrible finale.

I´m Commander Shepard and Liara is the hottest girl in the galaxy.

I watched it from the beginning and thought it was stupid from the start. But I still enjoyed it. The jingoist patriotism that lasted to the very end with his speech was still fun even if stupid.

I wish they could pivot the show and become a galactic civilization.

I didn't think Season 4 was too bad but it sure as hell wasn't as good as the previous seasons! I was intrigued about what they were trying to do with Lexi and that whole dynamic but it just ended up being a bit too tropy to create faux drama.

As for this season, the meat of the season was better than season 4 but it was a bit more rushed than previous seasons, especially the series finale. You could tell that they had a higher plan for Pope if this series wasn't going to end. They were gearing Pope up to be a major thorn in Tom's side (at least that's what it looked like at the beginning of the season). The military compound was a nice little sub plot distraction but the introduction of this ethereal ancient race was, for a lack of a better term, sub-optimal. IMHO, what really made this season not great was the series finale.

The series finale should have been a 2-parter with part 1 starting when they arrive at DC and displaying more of their search for the Queen and a few more skirmishes. Part 2 should have been about finding the Queen, having an all out battle with a lot more strife and drama, then fleshing the post-war scenes out a bit more.

What really brought the finale down for me is that Anne survived death. As much as I think her character was strong and integral, Anne should have remained dead because it would have impacted the more loyal fans a lot more, and it would have been a better setup for the post-war scenes.

Anyway, I will most likely get the blu-ray release just for collectors sake. I like the show and can see myself re-watching like I'm about to re-watch the newer Battlestar Galactica.

As for your question, I would say morbid curiosity. That is why some watch things they hate or think is bad or it could be because those people like to troll fans of the show and need some ammunition.

I was pretty much hope watching from the start. This show never made it to good. It started at OK and went downhill from there. I started watching because I love sci-fi but I only kept watching because it was both fascinating and bizarre to watch a huge budget for a sci-fi tv-series be so utterly and completely wasted by people who are supposed to know what they're doing.

It had such a sleek look to it yet it was awful, sappy, and wall-to-wall tired clichés. All they had to do to go from terrible to decent was some semi-good writing, I felt it had the potential to turn good at any moment. Alas it really never did.

Please avoid for your own good. The 7 rating must be manipulated, it should be less than 5.
