I just watched all 4 seasons in a row.

Everyone is constantly hugging and nothing really falls from the sky.

Some thoughts.
Seems like the writers were making things up as they go.

Skitters are bad. Skitters are mind controlled also No, skitters are bad, some are good. Skitters are all bad again. Pope is bad. Pope is a chef. Pope is bad. Pope is leaving. Pope is back. Harnesses control kids to look for scrap metal. No wait, it's a mosquito. No it, just the spikes. Now it's a harness again. Charlotte is good. Charlotte is bad. Volm are here to save the day. Volm are bad. Volm are good but busy. Volm are gone. Let's cut a wire to disable a fence. The power comes wirelessly from the moon.

I can't even wrap my brain around the mess that Lexi is and the useless episode with the cocoon.

I just re-read what I wrote and I didn't even get a chance to get into the Masons. My head still hurts trying to think about it.

You covered the Masons with the title - they spend 60 % of the time hugging each other.

Are you kidding me? How could any of you mistake frisking for weapons as hugging. These people have gone through hell and back, and with all the bug in your eye moles, they can't trust anyone.

The realistic display of affection is part of what makes this show so great - love overcoming the awkwardness of displaying it publicly is something that should be shone more, and is something my family has consciously been doing - very relatable to me.

The only other show I've ever seen with this much hugging was Sons of Anarchy. Seriously, since when does a biker gang that runs guns and drugs, and commit enough homicides to be tried for war crimes hug more than drunk sorority sisters. It's a cheap way for the director to eat up screen time before the next commercial.

We have called it "Feeling Skies" since season 1.

I think the title might be a version of chicken little running around shouting the sky is falling, meaning the world is coming to an end. Chicken was wrong, and so seems those who thought the aliens would wipe out the human race.

As far as all the hugging. Have you ever heard the song Why Can't We Be Friends? Maybe they should have played a line or two of that song every time someone hugged. I think the violent crime rate among viewers of this series would have dropped if they did.
