One Week has a similar tone, I've watched the movie so many time now. It might just be that it is in my age demographic, but I highly recommend it, loved the narration.

Surrealist Luis Buñuel's movie about two guys who meet up and do some of the trip. A different take on the same journey, with vignettes thrown in based on historical Christian heresies.

Entertaining. And the reason The Way held some interest as soon as I noted the setting.

"Before Sunset" and "Before Sunrise", albeit that these are city walks. Still fascinating and among my favourites.

You might consider the pilot film for "Then Came Bronson" -- with a very young Martin Sheen as the friend whose choice serves as the catalyst for Jim Bronson to quit his job & head out on the road via motorcycle to try & make some sense of his life.

I'll also second "The Milky Way" & "Mindwalk" as well.

The Station Agent - 3 characters all trying to find each something they are missing. A little gem of a movie.

Charlie and Boots. Australian movie - father and son go on a journey to find what they are missing. Another Gem of a film.

The dish - Not a road movie but again 4 people trying to discover something about themselves.

Southbounders

Bbethany7 The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, directed by and starring Tommy Lee Jones.
The chemistry between the main characters is somewhat toxic, but brilliantly so. Jones has done an excellent job with this film.
