The consensus seems to be that the target audience is comprised of fans of the comic book character Deadpool, whether through X-Men, X-Force, X-Factor, Weapon X or whatever.
The standard plot seems to follow the 12 year old audience line of many of the mindless super-hero movies the e.g. the later Avengers movies but then the movie is R rated featuring almost porn grade sex & nudity & I think above average violence.
Yes, sadly but perhaps for good reason, social commentary (or whatever doesn't constitute "mindless") is absent from many comic book superhero flicks. I mean, very few of these stories are on the level of the works of Shakespeare, Hugo, Shelly, Dickens, Austin, Twain, Emerson, Orwell, Tolkien and Dick (and so many, many others), which have been rehashed repeatedly. Technically this movie does have some social commentary.
So yeah I guess all the kids are downloading this on the net but who's paying for it?
I think Japanese love this kind of stuff. That's a bit of a tongue-in-cheek statement, I confess. Perhaps (or obviously) the movie is meant to be a cult flick, but there are plenty who would buy it and might find it to be at least an okay picture.
