What's with all the insults from negative reviewers?

I read some pages of the reviews and the scores are either 1 or 6+. Did not see a single score in between amongst the 3 pages I looked.
And in 90% of the 1-reviews they call people who liked the movie dumb, immature, neckbeards etc. What the hell is up with that? Can't get it in your head that different people like different stuff, especially in humour? Who's the one being immature really?
Also, many of the 1-reviewers state that they grade the movie a 1 because others overrated it. Really? But you know what? Maybe a lot of people are overrating it cuz so many are underrating it. In fact, I should do that myself now.
And I was just wondering, is that a thing now? To rate movies you don't like a 1? I'm not sure if I've given a single one. Feels like a movie has to be beyond dreadful to achieve that score rather than story, humour etc not being to your liking.

But hey, maybe that's just me.

I hated it but my sister loves it and she is certainly NOT dumb, etc. Why can't people state opinions without being nasty?

Because those people spend most their time watching arty films and thinking every movie should be like this and speak to me on a deeper level..... meanwhile the rest of us can enjoy films like that but not expect the same from EVERY movie we see, they are the types to smell their own farts and smile when its foul.

People are entitled to an opinion. If they really don't like a movie, all that indicates is that they didn't enjoy it. This is a major problem for the studios; they try to put something into every movie for everyone. And wind up ruining it in some way, especially because there isn't enough in the movie to live up to the hype. Today, every movie is expected to have: Action, Romance, gay characters and gay romance, oh yeah and A VERY GOOD STORYLINE. The last is the first thing to be sacrificed. Which is why we have so many awful movies.

The first time I attempted this movie I only got through about 30 minutes, but I certainly never insulted anyone who loved it, or the people I know who highly recommended it. Tried it again last night and thought it was great fun. I have pretty eclectic taste in films but I have to be in the right mood for particular genres. I think 2016 was pretty low on decent, entertaining movies so this sure goes into my top list for last year. I'm glad I gave it another go.
