Banlieue 13 (2004) vs Brick Mansions (2014)

Which one do you guys prefer? The French original starring David Belle and Cyril Raffaelli or the American remake with David Belle and Paul Walker?

the answer is simple: im not even going to see the remake.

as someone who have seen both of the movies in question i would have to choose banliue 13! but let me tell that brick mansions was not that bad as some wannabe critics intend to make it! of course it was not the kind of movie, in regards of quality, we are used to. but still is one movie that people enjoy watching, despite the many flaws! and in my humble opinion its that kind of movie that we cant stop watching once we start it, and for me thats a "good" movie!

WOW LOL. I put in Sabotage from the Redbox and the trailer for this came up. Seeing the trailer first thing I thought of was "This looks just like District 13." I hadn't seen the whole movie, only the scene where the guy in the white shirt was flying around like a nimble ninja, which is why I'd recognized the style.
And lo and behold, it's a REMAKE. I'd watch the original, sequel, AND the remake, because they all look so damn fun.

The beginning of the movie was great and was just as good as the original, after that it went downhill fast and the only reason i kept watching it till the end was because of Paul Walker.

So overall I thought it was a terrible remake.

The original without a doubt.
That movie was so good they barely even tried to do anything creative here, just copied what had already been done and called it a day.

With this film they basically took the original's script, put Brian O Connor in it and filmed.

I gave them both a 1/10 (could've been 0). Same with B13: ULTIMATUM.

I have yet to see this one but seriously how can somebody expect Paul Walker to do what Rafaeli did in the french version? I mean Walker was a cool actor, seem lovable in everything he did, and i don't want to *beep* on his memory, but casting the dude in a role where the original was a great on screen martial artist and stunt man... Ahem? Michael Jay White, Scott Adkins, hell even Jason Statham would had been more fit for this role...

In any case tough, between the 2 Banlieu 13, Ultimatum is for me a lot better than the first, action wise, story wise, i dunno... maybe its because i saw the sequel before the original... but when i finally saw the original i was like "so this is it... look to me the sequel had a lot more cool stuff in it" but then again isn't it what they try with sequels? Bigger, badder, better and usually people always see it as a reharsh of the first film, thus saying its inferior... Maybe i had the same problem but inverted lol.

Anyway, i will watch Brick Mention probably this week or so, ill know if its that bad as people say, but one thing for sure, can't trust the critics really. I watched Protector 2 this week with Tony Jaa, the critics where terribles, and i actually enjoyed a lot the movie. Sure it was inferior to the first, of course, but still pretty enjoyable.

Alice is the worst character of all time, she need to die in the last movie. Chris/Jill are RE !!!

I far prefered the original!! David belle proved in that how awesome an action star he could be,..yet in the movie they didn't even attempt to utilise the extent of his skills! He was just put in the back seat, while walker was out in front. This could have beenDavi Belles big break into hollywood, but I feel they robbed him of the pleasure because if they utilised him like they did in the original, he would outshine walker big time! Just my humble opinion. David belle is an awesome stunt man, and action actor, he deserves more than what he got in brick mansions.
