Dead grandma at the dinner table

I must've missed something or am confused, but was that not the grandma that died earlier who was later sitting at the dinner table with Sam's girlfriend?

reply

That's what I thought at first, by my wife said the dead one was the father's mom, and the one at the dinner table later on was the mother's mom. Or something like that.

reply

Ah ok, maybe all grandmas look alike.

reply

that was speilberg's mother.

The chubby grandma was Mitzi’s Mom, and she dies in the film in the hospital scene.

The slimmer Grandma is Burt’s Mom and she appears later in the film looking a little older than before. She is the one who makes the typical MIL remark about the plastic forks and “what’s she saving the silverware for, when the Eisenhauer’s visit?”

reply

She was also onto 'uncle' Benny right from the start - it came across as cruel at first, but in retrospect, we see what she saw - it was one merciful subtlety in that unmercifully unsubtle film.

reply

I see, I guess I got my grandmas confused.
